When it comes to trucking all I ever wore was jeans and work boots and a decent shirt. If it is local it is more of a interview. If it is OTR you will be there a few days in orientation.

Over time I've worked for three different companies where I have had serious input in the hiring process. At the last one I was the middle guy, meaning I didn't make the final decision but, if you got past me you got to interview with the guy that did. These were all blue collar positions including local drivers.
Having said that, a suit and tie would almost automatically send your application to the bottom of the stack. It doesn't impress me it gives me the opinion that you are not really understanding the job.
So - clean shirt (no t-shirts), decent pants (jeans or Dickies type) decent boots (sneakers are ok too if they are clean and in good shape). Wear a belt. Don't sag your pants or wear those stupid "tight" jeans either. Facial hair is ok but be freshly shaved and generally well groomed. Decent hair and no facial piercings or neck tats.
Dress for the job.
I want you to be ready and able to head out in the yard during the interview and maybe test your knowledge a little bit. Maybe a road test if you are a driver.
These are just my standards but, having talked with others in similar positions, they seem to be pretty common.

your on the right track. research the field. i once managed a chain of tune up shops a guy came in with suit and tie when it came time to work he didn't want to get dirty. since then if your not dressed for the job per say jeans and shirt for a driver then you end with me. nice shirt lean and SOBER I can't say how many times drunks came looking for jobs. even 1 beer is too much. I once watched a potential employee pull a bottle out take a huge slug then come in to me for an interview. good luck keep your chin up sound confident not ####y and you'll do fine.

I'm gonna want you to explain it. Like what the circumstances were, what happened in court etc... Then, how have you changed? For instance do you have a good work history in a position of trust with a former employer? Is your driving record spotless? and so on......
The policy will vary from company to company but the fact that you are a convicted felon will be a disadvantage. With the huge pool of applicants that there is now, it is relatively easy for an employer to find spotless candidates.
It won't eliminate you from consideration but, you will have to work with it.

sweatpants, a 15 year old T shirt with 16 holes in it, bed room slippers (or $8 sneakers with the 2 velcro strips,) greasy hair, and it might help if you go without a shower for a couple weeks before the interview. you go into an interview to be a truck driver wearing a collared shirt or pressed pants and they'll think you're there to take the president's job.

I didn't mean explain it online ---
Doesn't seem too bad. Call on some companies and see what they have to say.
