DTNA and Cummins are suggesting now not to clean DPFs by air pressure. They said the study shows that 30-45% of ash will stay in DPF. That ash will increase DPF outlet temperature during regen and may cause SCR poisoning. Both OEMs suggest to buy reman DPFs which are actually used DPFs cleaned by pressurized liquid. I have seen on YouTube some guys are cleaning DPFs by pressurized hot water. Who has tried it? any reviews?

We send out DPFs all the time for cleaning. They are baked and cleaned with air pressure with one of those SPX machines. Great success. Installing a reman everytime is simply not cost effective. I don't buy the increased temps due to left over ash for the simple reason the temps don't increase normally when a DPF already has a higher ash content through normal use. Do you have any links about what you are claiming?

Most shop's by us are pressure washing them with a special clean product no one bakes any more does work. Do not use high pressure you will cut into the filter and do not waste the money on reman buy new less headaches more miles before it need to be done again. More guys are buying a new filter and getting back to work trying to save a buck will cost you more i down time and labor. Also change def filter and injector same time depending on your system.

We have 8 dd13's that range from 700,000 to over 900,000 ALWAYS baked and replaced, never an issue! To clean on of ours and reinstall is right at 1200.00 a new one is 4000.00 BIG difference, to me anyway?

if you have access to DTNAsolution.com check the thread *re-occurring 4364/18*.. I have second time cleaned DPF on DD15. Ash volume reset was done and current ash volume level is about 60%. Usually when you do parked regen DOC outlet temp max is 1150F . Sam 1150F is DPF outlet temp max value. Now this unit has DOC outlet temp 1150F and DPF outlet temp 1250F. Checked sensors and found nothing. Looks like they are right.

Personally, I am waiting for the study to come out in 10 years about how the heated emissions from regens are causing some form of cancer that is much worse than no emissions would have been.

How do you know it's time to clean it? I asking for the DPFs that has been already cleaned once.
