I cannot answer your question regarding Florida schools. But I will throw out my experience for you to use as comparison. My school allowed 3 installments if you needed that option. I think they were equal installments. They do not advertise that but I know several students who did it. I would also like to suggest you shop around. I paid $2200 dollars for a 10 week course through a local community college. No housing/motel was included. Two private companies conduct training on a 4 week schedule at this same campus ( Roehl and Schneider ). Recently, I had the opportunity to talk to a new driver that went through a Southern Alabama school. They paid $5500 for tuition and housing. It was a 3 week course. They only taught the minimum amount needed to pass the CDL testing process. They provided housing in the form of a run down trailer.
Shop around based on your needs. -
Werner owns Roadmaster and AIT.
Those schools are too expensive. In Florida community college cdl schools are cheap.
Let CTL Transportation pay for school and keep what cash you have in the bank. -
I paid the full amount when I went to McFatter/Sheridan Tech, but back then it was only $800ish. Just checked and it is up to $2K now.

I paid $300 for school, but that was in 1976 ! Most schools will allow payments, but, they will collect BEFORE you start the next week. So, first pymt today then this weeks training, then BEFORE you start next weeks training, you pay.

I attended Roadmaster for a week before I got hired on I to the medical school doing what I went to school for. They won't sit you in class until they have a sure way of getting their money. You can sit in class the entire first week before you are financially obligated to them. If you fail the DOT physical permit test etc you basically have no obligation. I was a VA student but I do believe they charge you for the pre application background checks and DOT card. They will you with financing as well. One thing I disliked is they lecture you on not applying for a job because they want you to go through them (basically they try to force driving for Werner down your throat). I had a pre hire letter before I even attended by Roehl but regardless you have to go through their employment office whether or not you have a job. People can say what they about the school but before you sit in class they legimately do everything they say they do. The people in class were interesting to say the least. Roadmaster is the shortest in Jacksonville. FSCJ has a very good program but it's almost two months because you don't go all day. Roadmaster we were in class twelve hours a day or longer. You will do lots of standing but how much driving time you get depends on your eagerness to learn. You can chose to stand on the fence or wait your turn and keep driving. (Majority chose the first option and would be there on the extended program).
