I dont know too much about the flatbed side. They get higher cpm than vans but generally run less miles. Primarily West and NW. The company tries to balance the pay scale to keep it fair so that they can keep drivers on both ends. They also have a few local drivers and dedicated runs, but these are the highest senoir drivers in the company. They also run some dedicated triple axle vans in the NW and Western Canada, as well as a few grain trains regionally. Like most companies they start all drivers OTR, then after some miles they can look into moving into something else.

i grew up in I.F., and went to the same schools as some of the kids from the family. Remember when their terminal used to be on West Broadway, back when that was about as far as the town went.
Glad to see they are still going strong. I guess as long as there are spuds in the ground, they will be around. :)

Their new terminal is on the South edge of town now. They also own DAD's travel plaza, The Truck Wash next door and a used truck/trailer dealership. They also lease some of their property to several truck related businesses. Kind of a big deal for a fairly small town.

I moved over to an LTL company after about 14 mos. with Doug Andrus. I needed to be home everyday.
My opinion of Doug Andrus still stands though...they are a good company and if I went back OTR I would hire back on with them.
To answer the training question...I think I was about 30 days with some hometime in between trips.
You can call them and talk to the recruiter to find out more.
I can't tell you anything about Sunrise, never talked to any of their drivers...just find out as much as you can about the companies that interest you and make your choice...good luck future driver!;):)

When I lived in Idaho Falls, I could see Doug Andrus' Terminal from my front yard on Evans Avenue, first house on the left after the apartments... I always enjoyed passing by the terminal and dreaming about becoming a transportation engineer :)
