Just out of trucking school and I am looking at Dot Transportation or Tyson Foods. Any current advice on these companies?

Dot Transportation probably the best. You'll have more options as far as pay and work schedule.

The better question at the moment is likely to be: which of those 2 will actually hire you?

Caution: Tyson Foods is really struggling right now -- slashing jobs & closing down plants. Not a good ship to be aboard. :(

The only thing that is concerning about DTI to me is the inward facing camera, other than that looks very good. I guess the pros out weigh that con.

They're not hurting too bad. The are closing some unprofitable plants but they have several others in the area to take up the slack.

They are still advertising on the radio for all types of drivers around here.

And they recently built a $75mil feed mill and are building a new $70mil hatchery here in SW Arkansas.

Put a bobble-head doll in front of the camera.

Dot is a great outfit as far as I know, but don’t sell Tyson short. We have a lot of options, from otr to regional, shuttle and home daily.

We’ve closed some smaller, older plants, and built some much larger state of the art facilities. The transportation side is adding trucks, and for my part, I’m running all the miles I want.

For what it's worth: I don't see ads for Tyson drivers at all anymore. :(

Also: I read somewhere in the financials that Tyson was trying to stop "bleeding red ink"....:dontknow:

Tyson is re-organizing and dumping unprofitable plants and combining some plants.

We’re always looking to improve efficiency. That’s just good business. Like everyone else, we’ve struggled a bit in todays economy, but we’ll adapt and improve.

Im not sure about our recruiting ads, but I know we run an orientation class every week, with no signs of slowing or stopping. We’re growing our private fleet, and we’re not even close to moving our product without outside carriers.
