DEFPOTEC - what is that?

I go in and take the test.
It is either a standard look at it and read at a distance paper eye chart or it is looking through some machine.

I prefer the paper chart on the wall. My eyes don't do so well up close with the machine.
The machine simulation is never quite right to the real world.

I go in and they say to read the smallest line I can.
I do so.
I don't try to read the 20/20 or any other line, just the line I can see most clearly.
Heck, I can't even see what the line designations are - so that is a waste of time.

 

No, they are not. And, even if they were, the different clinics make you perform the test differently. Some point to a letter and ask you what it is. Some make you read it backwards, or start in the middle.

 

Not all of them are. The one up where i live has 2. One is one of 8 diffrent letter charts they use. And one is a list of common traffic signs. To be honest though if you cant pass a visual test without cheating.....should you be driving? That just seems like a recipe to squish someone or something

The thing is, my real world vision is usually better than my testing vision.
Does that make sense?

 

OMG, if you are worried, go get your eyes checked, this is not a profession we need drivers who can't see, it is bad enough that we have drivers who can't drive a truck straight.

No. But that is the more common of the charts. Do an internet shopping chart for eye test chart. One chart is just numbers. One chart is like a capital letter E turned in various directions on the line.

If you plannto memorize the 20/20 line, memorize it forward & backward literally. Also memorize the line above it forward & backward. If you have 20/20 but can't read the 20/25 or 20/30 line they know you are cheating. Or so someone told me.
