Sysco hired me yesterday for a Bracebridge run at 29 an hour to start, DOT foods wants to hire me to to Ontario to Calgary long haul. What's the better company for my first trucking job?

Sysco has a better offer. If this is what you want to do.
    Ontario-Calgary has lots of freight.
But horrible, dangerous roads. Winter time mostly.
    Backhaul is almost non-existent.
Waiting unpaid for days to return to Ontario is to be expected.
Hourly pay is better, especially with regional overtime after 42h or whatever number is.
Overtime in long haul is after 62h.
    Sysco 1 - DOT 0.

I hope you're in shape to work at Sysco. Food service will destroy your body if you do it for any length of time.

Toronto to Calgary rounders require unpaid time off on the roads or work short days . Sysco will help you later if you decide to go elsewhere short haul IMO
