Anyone ever replace the door latch on your truck door? Mine keep popping open while going down the road so picking one up from Peterbilt tomorrow to put on my 587. I've never taken apart a door or anything like that, it does have power everything (window/locks/mirror) Just wondering is it relatively easy once I get the panel off or is it a pain in the rear? Any do's or dont's that any of you that have replaced one before shall recommend? Any tips? Thanks.

It should be simple, just disconnect the lock rod clips and unbolt or unscrew the mounting hardware from the door shell, install the new one and reconnect the lock rods.

I would have a good pair of long nose needle nose pliers and some different length flat bladed screwdrivers because reconnecting the lock rods can be a pain.

careful not to break the plastic retainers on lock and door release rods. (they snap sideways off of rods to release/install, hard to explain)

Look at the striker that bolts on the door jam it gets worn and will let your door fly open at the worst times?

The door doesn't fly open, its just becomes "unlatched" but still locked.

That's my thought. Nader bolt needs adjusted. Usually Torx head bolt and it will be tight!
