I Posted A Thread And Took Some Suggestions And Needed More Home Time With My Loving Family.well I Took A Job With Dohrn Transfer In Sturgeon Mo.this Is An L.t.l. Company.there Headquerters Are In Illinois.
Well During My 3 Interviews I Was Told I Will Be Working A 10 Hour Shift From 8 Pm-6 Pm.i Was Told I Will Be Making 15.00 An Hour.i Was Told I Would Have Nice Assigned Equipment.i Was Also Told I Would Be Working Sunday Night Through Thursday Night.
Well Let Me Tell You The Reality Of All Of This.i Eneded Up Making 14.25 An Hour.my Hours Were 8 Pm To 10 Am,monday Night Through Friday Night.yes Thats 14 Hours A Night And 5 Nights A Week.this Is A Total Of 70 Hous A Week.i Never Got A Good Assigned Day Cab.we Ended Up Slip Seating.the Trucks Are Not Road Worthy And Most Of Them Smelled Like A Cow Pasture.unreal Dirty And Smelly.i Just Could Not Believe I Was Once Again Had By Recruiters And Management.i Gave My Notice And Left Them Happily.well My Last Check They Took 160.00 From Me For A Physical.yes Very Nice.steal From The Poor Man.
So I Am Back At The Drawing Board Searching For A Good Company With Integrity, honesty, family Values And Actually Cares About A Driver And His Needs.is There Such A Beast? I Think Not But I Will Not Give Up My Mission To Find A Nice Job After Living On A Road For 20 Years And Putting My Time In.not To Mention All My Credentials I Worked Hard For.
In My Own Opinion Trucking Seems To Be A Business These Days For Work-a-holics And Men And Woman Who Have No Home Life,no Family Values And No Meaning Of True Love For Family And Loved Ones.not To Mention Not Having Any Life Outside Of Killing Themselves On A Road And Highway.
I Truly Believe In My Heart After All The Changes In Trucking Over The Last 25 Years, that The Man Or Woman Who Has A Great Home Life With Lots Of Love And Happiness Is The Person These Companies Do Not Want.they Love The Men And Woman Who Will Line There Greedy Pockets, live Like An Animal On The Road, put Up With All The Excessive Non Sence, and Shut There Mouths Like Good Little Sheep.
I Guess In The End Of This Up And Down Career I Chose In The Late 70's Is Not Trucking As I New It And Actually Had A Great Time Doing And Balanced Family, loved Ones And Work.its Become Something So Far Different Than When I Was Brought Into Trucking.i Guess Today Its Called Steering Wheel Holders? Rookies With A Dream? Work-a Holism?homeless Trucking? Free Room And Board? I Am Not Sure But Its Not True Trucking As I New It.
So I Will Continue This Losing Fight I Chose 3 Months Ago And Keep Looking For A Nice Trucking Job That Will Hopefully Understand I Do Have A Life And I Do Not Wanna Sell My Soul To A Company Dole.wish Me Luck On This Losing Battle.
Just To Let You No I Had Another Interview Today And I Laughed At The Guy And Walked Out Of His Office.he Told Me I Would Be Working 65-70 Hours A Week And Weekends .i Says To Dis Guy (yea Ok) Have A Nice Day.you Shoulda Seen The Look On His Face As I Called Off The Interview Early.lol Lol.
Thanks All For Listening To My Grief.

you will have a very hard time finding a local job that doesn't work your 70 hours. And if you find on it is likely to only pay 8 or 9 bucks. I did local for 5 years or so and only recently went back on the road.
It's easyer to find a regional company that gives you two days home. I see my family more driving like this than I did driving local. Oh ya, most the good paying local jobs will be nights and weekends.
I know Dohrns, they have a terminal out of Janesvilly WI I spoke with but the money was miserable so I never went any further with them

More true words have never been spoken. I used to drive for Covenant, running regional and getting home for at least 1 day a week, sometimes 1.5-2. Then I ran for Central transport, as a nightime linehaul driver. Supposedly my shift would start at 1900, and be done about 0600. The truth is I only got back to the Terminal ONCE by 0600, and that's because I only went to Kokomo,IN and back (to Romulus MI). Most days I was lucky to be back at the terminal by 1000 (yes, a 15 hour ILLEGAL shift). And so, the only real day I got to properly spend with my family was Sunday, even though I was home every day.

WI has a 16 hour exemption. they allow you to be on duty up to 16 hours on a day, one day a week. If you started and finish at your home base and don't leave WI. My company has one run that REQUIRES us to use that exemption every week. It's one run where we go from Madison to Marrinette WI and then wait for them to scan patients then down to MIlwaukee and back to MAdison, WI It is at the very least a 14.5 hr run but I'v pushed the limits to make it fit into a 16 hr day more times than I care to talk about.

Yeah 10-4; My run was typically romulus Mi to Indy In. It's 300 miles (if u take us24) and my co said it should only take 5.25 hours to get there. That was my first warning sign. Anyways, they want you to drive straight thru, and then sit in Indy (waiting for your relay load from St Louis or KC) for 2-4 hrs, and run straight back.

I too worked for them, they really have no clue how to treat a driver !THEY believe that you should be seen and not heard ..it took me four months to see this.Be careful about how you leave them even with a 2 week notice they put on my dac "wont rehire":mmad:...owell they are known to put that on your dac ...QUESTION:WHY CAN THEY FIRE YOU WITHOUT RECOURSE THAN PUT BULL ON YOUR DAC ...WHAT`S A DRIVER TO DO??

Better take your time getting back to Romulus, lest you have about 3 or 4 deliveries to make when you get back, with another truck.

I have seen their trucks and trailers. Wow! Tired old Binders and FLD's pulling worn out Wabash trailers. I can see how they wouldn't be someone to work for.:biggrin_25521:

I really wish someone would turn CT into the governement. Someone needs to stop Maddie and his dangerous games before the public gets hurt. We all know that people are working more than 15 hours a day as over the road drivers for this company.

If you are talking about CT most companies know they are the pit of hell and ignore what they put on your DAC.
