Thank you guys! Police is there, and writing the report. I will let you know, how it goes, with insurance and the dmv record later on.

The last I heard hitting a deer is considered an act of god! So if you are an atheist you might say instead of OMG!..... Holy ####! That won't work either! Ummm, WTF?aiwiron Thanks this. -

Ex-deputy here. In Iowa if the accident causes approximately $1500 in damage, or injury, you're required to report it to the local law enforcement agency. They may or may not come to the scene, but you should report it, and your insurance company very well may require you to do as well. Lots of people out there "fake" deer accidents when they've really been driving like idiots and crash.
Noggin Thanks this. -
And of course the lingo to report this is the dear hit you, you didn't hit him. It should be a nonpreventable if it is reported, unless you swearved to avoid it and wrecked, then it is deemed a preventable.
Hope the truck doesn't cost a lot. Why isn't it in dear season. -
Pffff ... as someone else posted bambis are nature's suicide bombers. If you try to save his life you could potentially end yours and whoevers driving close to you.
Be a hero, squash a bambi.
In all seriousness though, bambi killing is no crime. Def shouldn't get anything on his record. -
Hitting a deer is a non preventable accident. A company would rather you hit the deer and pay a few hundred to a few thousand to repair the truck, versus you swerving to miss it and hurting or killing yourself or someone else. As the old saying goes " A deer's life isn t worth your dear life"

hitting a deer that has moved onto the roadway is a non DOT recordable incident and many good companies will consider it Non preventable.
