Does the deer accident affect your driving record?

    Hello everybody!
    My friend just hit the deer, and he is the owner operator. And he is asking me whether the deer accident will affect his driving record.
    He is not concerned about the insurance as much as about the record. So please, if anybody of you had the same issue, how did you solve this problem?

    Thank you for your answer! However, he has his own small fleet company. But what about dmv record? Is this gonna affect his CDL license? Cause he has enough tickets, and he is afraid that this will be the last drop in the cup to lose his license.
    So, if the question is - does he need to report to the police would be yes?

    Last I heard, squashing Bambi on the road isn't a crime, so no tickets, no points. In fact I don't see why one would even involve the authorities. It's between your friend and his insurance carrier.

    If he just whacked the deer and kept rolling with no other vehicle involved, with damage only to his truck, I would think that it wouldn't affect his record or license.

    Only thing the insurance carrier may want a police report, but It will not harm him record wise.
