It's getting hard to find good coffee at a truck stop anymore. It's usually too hot to taste how weak it it's and by the time it cools off enough it's too late.

i used to drink two to three cups a day, 10 yrs back or so
since driving a truck, i cut it down to one a day in the morning,
now, i rarely drink coffee (probably because coffee is too weak these days, but if you can catch the pilot as they JUST change the Dark Roast, it is some of the best coffee EVER)
as far as keeping me awake, that got old too
i remember drinking four or five cups in one night to stay awake, it doesnt work, i think its the actual motions of drinking the coffee that kept me awake more than the caffeine, because as soon as i stop, i can go to sleep within seconds
my motto, if you MUST drink coffee to stay awake, its better to stop and take a nap for a few minutes, it does much better than coffee -
If anyone tells you that,... their lugging the freight.
Coffee contains caffeine... not enough to 'keep you awake' though. I think the drink just gives you something to do, a short burst and stopping to get it gets you out of the truck for a few minutes to stretch your legs and give you a little circulatory revitalization... as for having any affect on keeping you awake?....
... if your mind believes that crap,... then it works (in your head - and that's programming the mind to fool the body).
Fatigue is real, unacceptable and kills people. If you get tired again after 30 minutes, pull over and stretch your legs again or take a short (no less than 45 minutes - R.E.M. Sleep) nap.

I found getting out of the truck and just walking around for a few minutes helps me get the last miles done

when i am tired, i just stop, bend over the steering wheel (i dont want to get too comfortable) and when my body is sore enough, i wake up and keep going
that usually buys me about an hour, after that, gotta hit the sack -
Of course, if your "old school" (read that dumb as a rock) you could try bennies. But when you get caught, it's gonna go tough on you.
But as far as coffee keeping you awake? Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I can enjoy coffee with dinner, then have several cups between dinner and bed time, and sleep like a rock.
The biggest thing that makes coffee keep you awake, is that it is a diuretic. So when you stop to pee, it wakes you up! -
Been drink in it so long I don't no what it does--BUT-ifn I've been outta bed more an 10 mins & don't have any--even i don't wanna b around ME!
