I just got my motor vehicle report. I was surprised to see an accident listed on it from last year, and there was no real explanation.
This accident was NOT my fault. Some guy clipped my back bumper, no damage, no dents, no injuries, just exchanged a little paint. Because I was driving a commercial vehicle with passengers, I had to call the police. He admitted he was at fault and I had nothing more to do with it.
How will this effect my chances of getting on with a decent company out of school?? I figured it was not going to be easy because of the one in 2010 that was my fault, but with 2 listed, now I'm worried!
The girl at the DMV made a point of commenting that my record really wasn't bad, but maybe she was just trying to make me feel better.

thats the bad thing about being a commercial driver any time the police show up and make a report in goes in your record as being involved. If you can get any documantation showing it was not your fault it will help, tell thr recruiters you talk about this and let them know if you can proof it may get you the job. Good Luck

It won't be a problem. I had an accident on mine that wasn't my fault when I first started and no one ever even asked about it or brought it up. Whether it's commercial or not, your fault or not, every accident you're involved in will show up on a MVR if there was a police report. I know CA has codes on the MVR that denote things about the accident. One's always for sobriety or the lack of. I actually never was able to find out if the other codes on there denoted fault or not at fault even after calling the state branch to try and find out.

your record is probably good...for all the experience the dmv lady has. dmv has little knowledge or experience when it comes to cdl holders. only way to find out is to start applying. most likely wont be impossible to find a job..starter companies are fairly forgiving. start with the ones you have no intention of working for (crst, cr england). apply to them first as "guinea pigs". if you cost them a few dollars of wasted time, GREAT.

California at least does not provide information on what the accident codes are. I haven't looked for two years but even searching now quickly I couldn't find it. If it's a violation the number is the code violation but the accident codes are not the same. Like I said, even calling the main state branch I wasn't able to find the information. The most I've been able to find is the sobriety code. Their all codes for internal use. The look something like this usually.

    The sobriety codes mean:

About 4 years ago, I got rear ended in a CMV and there were injuries. I ended up getting bused back from orientation to get the accident report from my former employer because they wouldn't get off their lazy butts and fax it in. I had the police report with me but the company also wanted the report from my former employer.

I see no reason why this accident is on your MVR at all. especially if you werent at fault..Did you recieve any kind of citation from the police at the accident scene. I was involved in a major accident in 2010 not my fault...completely totaled the other vehicle..no charges against me..not on my MVR lol not even on my CSA either. thats right IT IS NOT ON MY CSA...if your not a fault it should never show anywhere unless you tell someone
