I don't know what kind of places you go to.

Places I go to most often will tell you.
Green Light does NOT mean your paperwork is ready lol.

Yea, the green light means nothing at the places I go to at least. If they have lights at all. They'll hit the green light when they're out of the trailer but it could be another few hours to get the paperwork . I write my number on top of all my bills. They'll either call or knock. Sure it'd be useful if you go to alot of places that tell you to come in on green but I feel like it'd be another gadget that gets used twice and then gets buried in the toolbox.

I've used s GoPro camera and wifi view app at select places where green does mean time to do something

OMG the green light means the truck is unlocked or the dock plate is up, it doesn't mean anything else.

There is a company over here that has modified a few of these systems for wireless communications between the yard switchers and the dock people, so I would think that it already has been made.

IF you want to go the optical route, then you will need very good optics sensors that stand up to the abuse of being mounted on a truck and filtering to determine what is green or red. BUT a mirror is just as good.

Leave them your phone number and have them call you.

I'm unloading right now where you must watch your light to know when to go inside to get your bills. They do not call cell phones or knock on doors. No. They are not all like this but the point is, some are. And when they stop pulling stuff off your trailer is hardly an indication you're almost counted and signed off on, especially in the grocery and food distributor world.

And I've been running since 11:30 pm to make this 5:00 appointment and frankly I'd like to be able to crash in the sleeper rather than sit watching a stupid light not knowing if it's going to be 20 minutes or 2 hours.

Things sure must have changed since I quit pulling a refer 13 years ago!
I always went by the fact when you quit feeling the forklift bouncing the truck around, give it a few minuets then go look and see if their done. You still have make sure you have your load locks and pallets stacked.
People are relying way to much on technology. Whats next? An app for your bowel movements??
