As the title asks, do you use Glass cleaner like Windex in your windshield washer tank?

I buy windshield washer fluid but it doesn't always seem to do the job. I am wondering if putting a bottle of Windex or similar glass cleaner in the washer tank (along with a gallon or so of water) will be ok. I know it will foam somewhat & I don't know if its ingredients will stop up or damage the tubes or sprayer nozzle over time.

Yes, that works, but but it's just as good to use plain water and one of those blue tablets you see in urinals. Many truck stops do just that with their 55 gallon drums of bulk windshield washer fluid.
Don't need a whole tablet in your truck; about a quarter or less of one will do. They're cheap in Walmart.
When the water starts getting clear again, just add a little bit more blue tablet.

I carry a spray bottle of Windex, and a squeegee. Waiting at shippers/receivers, I give it a good scrub. I rarely use my windshield washers, since I have a Cascadia, and at highway speeds, the side spray covers my mirrors with a mist that dries spotty.
But, I also use the orange Rain-X washer fluid, since my company reimburses for it.

I always bought the good washer fluid from Walmart, still was cheaper than the cheapest jug at a truck stop.

The real trick is to carry a good spray bottle of dawn and water. Make sure you get a high quality one that shoots a good jet a few feet. In the morning I'd spray the windshield and let the dawn breakdown the bugs and guts. Then hit it with the wipers and washer fluid. Would do the same at a rest stop or delivery if I forgot that morning. It doesn't have to sit long, just a couple minutes.

Isn't the orange rain-x illegal in certain states? I'm thinking Cali and maybe Missouri... EPA standards, or some such thing. Carcinogenic, maybe?

I never go to Kali, and very very rarely through MO. I know it tastes REALLY nasty if you accidentally get any on your hands, and forget about it. But it cuts through bugs, ice, frost, and does an awesome job at making rain bead up.

One of the best things I have tried is putting a quart of rubbing alcohol . That's what really cuts in washer fluid. But most brands do not use enough, to cut costs.

Never had anybody check the fluid.

When my windshield gets bad I don't bother with the wipers anyway.
