Company sent me to pickup 44,000 lbs of liquid-filled totes. Remembered about 200 miles from the shipper that you might need tanker endorsement for this, which I don't have. Not sure what I should do. Keep driving it to Texas and cross my fingers or tell company. I was even considering cramming for the tanker endorsement test and stopping at the DMV before I leave the state. Is it a huge ticket? Obviously, OOS.

If the following conditions occur, you are responsible for obtaining a tanker endorsement on your CDL: Your cargo includes liquid or gaseous individual containers larger than 119 gallon capacity. The containers are loaded, and not empty. The total combined volume in those containers exceeds 1,000 gallons.

Not sure about the ticket cost. But no point in putting your career in jeopardy.

It requires a tanker endorsement. Surprised the place you picked up did not ask for it as most places do.

It's a huge fine in California, even more so if the cargo is HazMat. In your case it would go directly to you.

I would tell your company. They shouldn't be sending you to do a load that you don't have the right endorsement for.

I did a load a while back like that for a broker. It was non hazmat but I did have to have the right endorsement and he let me know that before I took the load.

It's not Hazmat, at least that's what the shipper said.

If it had been HazMat the shipper would have given you placards and haz-mat bills. Unless he's a total outlaw most hazmat shippers play it straight.

Tanker endorsement test was very simple. Not sure if you have time to take it. Honestly probably best to cancel the load.

Already picked it up and rolled 200 miles. I have a feeling that safety will be complete A-holes about it even though a very small percentage of our drivers would have even known. It makes it more appealing to make a stealth run to the DMV and nobody will ever need to know. This just sucks.
