I, too, have heard a similar story. It must not be uncommon.
Don't know how true the story is since I heard it thirdhand, but here goes...
Same situation as you described with the origin of the team drivers, the infamous hole in the floor, and waste stuck on the underside of the tractor.
In my story, the mechanic was ordered to clean up the mess and fix the issue with the tractor. He promptly refused based on the nastiness of the situation.
The order was repeated with the threat of termination. He still refused and hired a lawyer.
During the legal process, the DOT became involved, and the company was cited for spreading poo poo across state lines and whatever legal consequences ensued.
The mechanic won his case and the company was fined for making a nasty mess and whatever else.
The legal fate of the terrible two turd team remains unknown to me.![]()
