Trainers for my company make 8-10k a month, is this for real? I am mind blown, why do they get pay so well? There must be a secret.
do trainers make this much?

Probably because they are using their trainees as co drivers instead of you know, training them.
Highway Sailor, ChrisRob23 and pattyj Thank this. -
They don't make that much at Comcar. That's for sure. Or Roehl. 2 of my trainers at Roehl each made $44k per year. They were both 7 on 7 off.
Maybe it depends on the company. -

yep. you can make 8 - 10 a month. i expect to make 25 this month. and i'm not a trainer.
at the end of the month. my monthly bills will be paid. and i should have about $500 to get me through next month. -
i made around 90k/ year training. That's about 7500/month. I made a little less then the 8-10 you mentioned, but I focused on training my trainees, not just using them as a second log book.

With Swift a trainee has to complete 240 hours behind the wheel in training. During the first 50 hours BTW the trainer needs to be in the passenger seat and On Duty. After the first 50 hours the trainee is then qualified to drive with the trainer as a team and the trainer can be in the Sleeper Berth.
The trainer makes his/her $/mile while the trainee drives. So when a trainer has a trainee that is competent and driving as a team, the trainer is basically doubling their income by running their own miles and adding in the miles from the trainee. If the trainee doesn't cut it and the trainer is nervous about being in the SB while the trainee drives, then they have the option of booting the trainee.
After a trainee becomes a solo driver, the trainer continues to make a small $/mile amount for a year for every mile that trainee (now solo driver) does. If they are a good trainer and field a good "crop" of solo drivers that stay with the company, then they have some residual income in addition to their active training income and solo income (solo when they are between assigned trainees). -
These's a lot of fluff in how much trainers actually make. I typically run over 3000 miles per week solo and I know that thats often more miles than the trainers and team trucks are running here where I work. These trucking companies are not able to keep trucks rollin 24/7 due to appointment times, lack off freight, poor freight as well as many other factors. Also, most of the long haul coast to coast stuff if going on rail now. Trainers stop bragging and post your 90K paychecks for everyone to see. Heres a pic of what my paycheck looks like per week solo. Show us what yours look like as a team.
Drumbe Thanks this.
