Do not drive for Sweet Logistics / Express out of Grand Rapids MI

    One of the worst companies I`ve ever worked for.
    Started working for them at the beginning of June. Right from the beginning they started to offer me long miles freight and said to lie on my logbooks. I always refused to take any illegal freight, no matter how hard they pressured me. 2 or 3 times they left me stranded for a weekend with no load only because I refused to pickup a load at 3 pm and deliver over 850 miles next day by 10 am. Never got any layover from them - dispatcher said since I was refusing to take those loads, they dont pay layovers. When I was trying to reach a manager - he was always busy, in the meetings or his phone would go straight to voicemail. I went to the office 2 times to see him - guess what, they guy was just available and said same thing - they dont pay layover if I refuse to take a load on Friday. I was trying to explain that my dispatcher never gave me any regular loads, always team illegal freight, but he wouldnt listen. I gave my 2 weeks notice right there. After 2 weeks driving, I left, on August 17. I was supposed to get my last payroll on Friday ($960), August 19 and my security deposit ($1500) in 45 days - on September 30. Well, guess what - never seen a dime from them. When I was trying to reach Sweet Express - they kept putting me on hold, transferring to people who had no idea why I was calling etc. Managers phone would go straight to voicemail.
    I already contacted MI labor department and them all information, they are looking into it.

    Seems to be a habit of some trucking cos. That think your last paycheck is theirs to keep .
    I've had to go the labor board route myself a few times and after what I've seen some companies do to departing drivers it's why I don't give notice anymore.

    When I drove for zeitner@sons I saw them tell a driver who had given 2 weeks notice to get off the property as soon as he got the truck cleaned out .
    That's pretty low and I made sure I had my bases covered when I left.

    Yep definitely for the most part ! Will say tho when I left Marten a few years ago I gave them 2 weeks and returned the truck to mondovi and they were cool about it ...and didn't jack me on my last check either.

    I just scanned in $1,000 and I got a check for $500. I scanned in $2,250 before and I only received $1,250. I don't know where the other $1,250 is? I should've never started driving for these pricks.
