My buddy makes 2 drops a night in state and gets home early am constantly hits his 14 , so you mite be dreaming.
Seems like a broken record here in the Valley people quit , get hurt , show up late , etc etc. , and always short handed , suck it up now because when the bubble pops , OT will be fond memory.Farva, LtlAnonymous and Switcher Thank this. -
You are dreaming. Look into jobs like electrician, plumbing, welding, etc. If you like home.

They’re out there. I got something similar. Monday to Friday north east regional (mainly NJ, PA, NYC). Usually do 30-100 miles a day. Monday to Friday pay is guaranteed whether I work or not. Weekends are off but if I work those days I get extra. My 70 barely hits 40 most of the times. Problem is I’m usually sent to crazy tight places or places where a truck gps will put you in trouble gotta be from around to know how to get there. Since I’m daily pay it doesn’t bother me to barely work but since you want hourly I don’t see why you want to limit your hours?

Driving is all about working 14 hours a day. Doesn't matter if you're local or not. However, 40 hour jobs do exist. I used to drive triaxle dumps locally in a worthless Teamsters Union shop. I had weekends off, started at 6am and was back in the yard at 230pm every M-F like clockwork. Pay wasn't bad, paid holidays and health insurance too.

You have to get on regional. OTR sucks in the current environment,,,in fact its sucked the past 2 decades. I’m on night shift line haul but there are also some day shift line haul but I like my afternoons off

I had to get my own authority to control my hours. Although technically I'm still not fully in control. I can decide how long my day will be based on the loads available but I can't refuse to do anything but 9-5.
The companies I worked for wanted you to run. If you had hours they wanted the truck moving. Money was good, I was home every day, but it got tiresome being a robot.Badmon, InTooDeep, olddog_newtricks and 2 others Thank this. -
For everyone saying you are dreaming...
This is my exact job right now.
Depending on bid, it's 40-48 hours a week (overtime available, but not required) and hourly pay.
Low man on the totem pole works night, but half the drivers work days too.Geekonthestreet, sevenmph, meechyaboy and 3 others Thank this.
