They do fine within a given distance and sightline to tower(s), however, trucks passing by (as in a busy truck stop) causes all sorts of signal distortion making television viewing almost impossible if the traffic is constant. Try and stay in the more remote areas where little or no traffic passes nearby.
Better when you're within about 35-25 miles or less to most of the towers, and with little to no terrain blocking the signal. Every time you stop in or near a new city, you'll have to rerun your tv's auto-program.
Ideally your tv will indicate signal strength with the "info" command. If so, watch this strength meter as you move the antenna around in your truck. Find the optimal position, then perhaps re-run the auto-program, and see if you can pull in any new signals with the new antenna position. It helps to be aware of where the bulk of the towers are.
TV Broadcast Tower Locator (OTA DTv)
This will accept a "city, state" entry
Digital antennas are somewhat directional to a degree and work best when oriented just so-so in relation to the signal source(s).
Some work better than others but the "flimsy flat panels" seem to works as well as any and stow easily. Also, in my experience, those with powered "amplifiers" don't improve the signal any or at least the improvement is barely discernible . I could never see any improvement amplifier plugged in or not except in a handful of occasions.Last edited: Oct 25, 2017

Ya its kind of funny. I would park nosed in sometimes just to get better reception. Or in really remote areas for the same reasons you said. Good picture quality though for an antenna.

You don't need a special antennae. Regular old rabbit ears will get you the same digital broadcast signals.
My truck has a built in antenna works just fine.
At home I have a pair of rabbit ears in my window that picks up over 50 stations.
I haven't had a cable bill in about 12 yrs.

Thank you for the information -
I'm a cord cutter at home. Moving the antenna a foot or two can greatly improve your reception. Those leaf type antennas do a good job and the $10 RCA rabbit ears antennas sold at Walmart gets good reviews. The HD over the air picture is fantastic and is good as cable.

From what I have found out the truck I am looking to drive is a T680 has a built in wall mount for a flat screen TV, and is supposed to be wired for the TV that is connected to the CB antenna.
