So I hear the tractor and reefer selections on the pump give you different diesel. I read earlier today the reefer fuel is actually a red shade. I haven't noticed that, but OK.
So I'm curious what the differences are between tractor and reefer diesel. Not that I would put reefer in the tractor fuel tank, but IF I did, would it work?

Red-dyed diesel is off-road diesel that can legally be used for the reefer, not the truck. Most trucking companies, especially OTR, will use the same diesel for truck and reefer. They’re reimbursed for the taxed reefer fuel when they file their taxes.

It is all usld diesel. Red dyed fuel is for off road use and no highway taxes are collected on its sale. Best not to get caught with it in your truck tanks.

Same stuff. The dye is just for identification. The wrong person sees dyed fuel in your truck tank you're in trouble.

Yes fuel that isn’t taxed gets red dye injected into it at the loading rack. But it’s exactly the same ulsd ......
