Slightly off topic, but thought someone might know -

My space heater for the shop says it uses Kerosene or Diesel for fuel. I've been using Kerosene, but it's far easier for me to get diesel for it.

Which one burns the cleanest? Would diesel foul it up in any way?

    Thanks.

Is it a turbo-type heater ? My experience burning diesel vs. kerosene in these heaters is the diesel may be a bit more smelly or blast a little black smoke on start up but works fine. try it, won't hurt anything.

kerosene is cleaner, but you can use diesel just as well.make sure you pour fuel through a filter/strainer into tank.

Yeah, it's one of those 'jet engines on wheels' 15,000 BTU Mr. Heater style space heaters.
It's a 50 by 60 shop, so it's more a case of something to warm up in front of than trying to heat the space.

Thanks for the strainer tip Q.TRUCK.

I agree with the prior comments, also. I have a 60k BTU torpedo heater, same, just bigger.

Be sure to top off its DEF tank also.
No telling how much has been used up in the past Regen process! ;) :biggrin_25522::biggrin_25523:

I run red fuel in my heater has same effects as mentioned just a little cheaper per gallon and I generally have some on the place anyway.

Good point (and benefit) about the red fuel vs "street legal" diesel price.

Kerosene burns much cleaner then diesel, but K1 kerosene burns cleaner then regular kerosene ;)

Kerosene is much more expensive. There are guys using Waste Veggie Oil in their jet engine turbo mega heaters.

Consider buying a fuel oil or waste oil furnace. A fuel oil furnace can normally run up to a 50% mix of waste diesel oil.

#2 will burn the dirtyest #1 is a bit cleaner than number 2 and kero is cleaner than all the above, all should burn fine in that heater.
