i can tell u a few things about the company. they will rob u of miles, dead head miles, breakdown pay,and tell u anything u want to hear to get u off the phone if u have a problem that needs to be solved. they are excellent at b.s. but u will soon find out most of them in the office sound the same ,b.s. . U will be lucky to average 1600 miles a wk & thats even staying out for 6 to 8 wks. They will say anything to hire u . Once your hired u will eventually start seeing b.s. give it 3wks tops . They will waist your time.

I promise u will waist your time with DHE and if u have bills or kids don't go there

I worked there for about a year and even accounting for seasonal changes it all averaged to about $8 to $9 per hour after dividing gross pay by hours LOGGED woked ( not including unlogged time spent). Mc D sounds pretty good at that rate since they at least pay minimum. Spent a week broke down otr in a backup truck that had just come out of the shop "fixed" for the same problem. Had no major problems getting out of pocket expences back but have to watch them as with all carriers (accounting "goofs" occasionally lol). DHE is an ltl company that also does otr. Their "terminals" are ltl facilities with no amenities and little to no parking for otr drivers so prepare to spend nights in drop lots with a porta potty if you're lucky or pay to stay at a truck stop but they will be accounting miles now that they have Qualcomm. Their dispatchers will try to run you beyond hos rules (maybe they look at Ca in-state rules which dont apply to otr) and they will go to electronic logs only when absolutely forced to. They have numerous runs into areas that have no contracted backhauls so will wait for loads. That being said I know other drivers who enjoyed working there and perhaps if I had spent more time making friends with dispatch it would have been different. Could go on but have rambled too much already. Wish I had found this site sooner.

[h=5]Here's an experience I had. Perhaps it will be useful to you.

DHE Trucking is definitely not a customer oriented business. I purchased a mattress weighing 138 pounds, in Santa Cruz. It was shipped to my house in Santa Barbara. My house is up a 300' driveway and there are no sidewalks on the street. The delivery truck couldn't drive up my driveway. I could not accept delivery at the street because of the size, weight, and lack of street space, not to mention distance from my house. I offered to bring my SUV down and the driver helped me load the mattress on top of my car. I roped it, drove to the top, and the driver accompanied me. I untied the rope, but before I could finish, the driver was pushing the mattress off the car. It broke my side mirror off the car, costing me a $400 repair bill. So, I called DHE safety division, sent them the bill and pictures of the damage. This is where they began to blow smoke up my .... (you know what). The driver said it was my fault because I should have been ready to catch (132 lbs!!) mattress. After protesting their decision, I got another call from a guy whose mine was so made up that it was my fault, that I hung up after it looked like a yelling match was coming on.

So, the DHE policy is that they drop the package at the street. The customer is wrong. At least, the person they deliver to is wrong. Just get the package off the truck and the heck with the person who has to deal with the delivery.

I would never use this company.[/h]

Do yourself a favor and NEVER ship with Dependable Highway Express, I won't let them handle my shipment if they do it for free. The pickup terminal is 3 minutes away from the shipper's location. Shipment scheduled two days prior to the pick up, I call and email for like 30 times since early morning to push them for the pickup and no driver showed up at shipper until they closed. Brad from Dependable Highway Express San Leandro Terminal explained shipment don't get pickup and that's just the way it is in this business. I'll let the thousands of freight forwarding companies on my contact list know not to use DHE. They don't deserve to be in this business at all.

Maybe you shippers should understand a little more about a drivers HOS rules. Oh wait thats right you dont know what those are. You think you run the show in this business fact is its the trucking companies that run things plus if a driver was on time you probably take your sweet ### time loading him and screw us out of detention lol stupid customers.

    Good Morning All,

Im trying to find out if below statement Dependable gave me is correct, trucker returned a "full container " and terminal logged it in as empty and my cargo disappears, please need assistance from guys working with LA terminal. Thanks in advanced !

"Maersk is a paperless terminal- the container was pulled out as an empty from Maersk and returned to the terminal under the same booking number according to trucker. There is no way to go in and determine it has been turned in under the appropriate booking number or as a full or empty unless you go in and check Maersk website.

There is alot of variables here. 1st did the trucker grab the right trailer and booking number? 2nd if they are paperless they should be able to find it faster. 3rd i know for a fact they can check any booking number and status. As for what maersk is saying i think they are wrong. I would call the LA terminal of DHE and see what they can do for you they may be able to help....888-434-3669

DHE has got a Class action lawsuit against them right now for all the bad stuff we all complained about. I guess sitting all day while being loaded/unloaded without being paid and doing post and pre trips without pay is illegal. any previous or current employees of dhe that they did this too should contact rastegar law group at (310)961-9600

They were also suppose to pay more for hazmat loads when they hired me and never did.
