Anyone using the new Garmin dezlcam LMTHD GPS/dashcam? How do you like it?
Any features you'd change?
How about the screen being 6" vs. 7".
I currently have the TND 720 but I want/need a dashcam bad and may as well go with a combo unit to save space. Seems like it'll probably do just about everything the TND does.
Problem I consistently have with the TND is it most often will only give the name of the first street starting out but won't tell you which way to turn. You have a 50% chance of making the right choice, otherwise a u-turn is in order. Rand McNally should have never released their junk on us until their bugs were worked out. They're relying on us truckers/consumers to send back all the feedback to get their gadgets to work properly - IF it can be done. Meanwhile they keep selling inferior products at a premium price.

I'm looking at upgrading my GPS.
I have a dashcam already. But even if I didn't wouldn't want one that does both. -
Why not?
-
As soon as Loves starts selling them I'll get one. I have 400 bucks in points. Hopefully you'll get a review on this thread because I'm interested too.
true blue Thanks this. -
Best thing about purchases with their points is that they waive the sales tax

One quits I still have the other.
Also my GPS I can put anywhere, don't have to worry about a camera on the back of it.
With a built in Dashcam my first consideration would have to be if the Camera can see what it needs to. -
It's an interesting consideration ...

Looks like it has a more intuitive custom route selection means which has always been a weakness of the devices I'm familiar with but unsure if it's as easy and pain-free as Google Maps laptop or device options (drag route)
Also includes a WiFi connector like the RM's AND built in free lifetime FM traffic, so now users have the option with the Garmin to do either or both (radar overlay and several other features available with internet connectivity)
Plus, seems to have an improved "what's ahead" feature.
Says the camera can be swiveled to see what it needs to see. In my freightliner, I have the GPS up in the upper left corner where the wipers cover. The other location(s) for the Drivecam that was accessible from the driver seat was always dirty or water or snow-covered so I like the idea of utilizing this prime real estate for both the camera and the GPS.
It's pricy for those that already have acquired both a GPS and a drive cam.
I still don't like Garmin for their MANY erroneous, misleading truck related restrictions that seem to exist into perpetuity with no way to user-eliminate or ignore, but otherwise I like the Garmin.true blue Thanks this. -
Also as with any GPS, if you have been sitting still the gps does not know what direction you are going. Once you start to move and it senses the Lat/Long change it should recalc and show you the directions. -
Even after I start moving, and that can mean up to a hundred yards or so in a long plant driveway situation, it still is clueless. You have a 50/50% chance of being right (or wrong) once you make that first turn, though.

Use "North Up Always" option. To me this makes more sense once you get used to it (and if you are not geographically challenged)
I can't even begin to deal with 3D forward view that most use.
