Hello, hope I’m posting in the right place.
On a 2003 60 series 12.7,
Does anyone know if I can swap my original set of 795 Jake brakes with a set of 797’s?
The only difference I can see is the 797’s only have one solenoid per head vs the 795’s that have 2 on one head and one on the other…
I am assuming I can just use 2 of my 3 wires and I will then just have 2 settings rather than 3?
Anyone know if there’s any issues with that?
I’m thinking the 797’s are off a newer motor? Or a 14l?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Tank you!

The adjustment is different for sure. I would think it would be best not to use them. Maybe try to call Jacobs but since it isn't listed you will probably get a no. I would not risk it myself but someone may post on here and tell you that they have used them. Here is the application guide. https://www.jacobsvehiclesystems.com/sites/default/files/2021-08/24770_DDC_App_Guide.pdf Notice the different gap setting. .813 vs .580

Is your 2003 a Pre Egr or Later egr engine. Alot of 2001 engines were pre-order and purchased for 2003 built trucks. Especially detroits in KW/Petes.

It’s pre egr.
Does that make a difference for jakes?jamespmack Thanks this. -
Sure does. YOU Certain you numbers are correct? DDC4 was in 2003 pre order trucks non egr. DDE5 was in 2004 calander year.
Now, I am no DDEC5 guy. But sounds to me your mixing generations with your description and only 2 position jake selection. Id be very careful mixing parts. -
Yes my truck is a 2003 fl classic ddec 4 with a 2 Jake switches which have 3 settings, left switch low right switch med both high.
Make sense?
The 797 jakes that I bought are probably from a ddec 5? The only real difference I see is only 2 solenoids not three…
I really hope I can use them because I can’t come up with a decent set of 795’s unfortunately. -

But one dropped a piston and busted the housing.. which I’ve already welded back together and used for a while like that… lol -
Where are you located? I have several sets of jakes at the shop. We are in SC. I might have what you need.

As far as Bolting the dd5 jake to the dd4 will bolt on if you use all the bolts and spacers from the dd5 as far as working no ide plus what are you going to do with the 3rd wire letting it hang will give a cel
