    Intake throttle valve. If the engine surges wildly during regen, then definite ITV

    My 07 was doing the exact same thing Berzerker. Ended up being a cracked hose between the egr and delta-P sensor

    Detroit has deleted the delta p sensor from the epa 07 engine. (14l ddec vi) removed it and replaced venturi and hoses with straight pipe from egr cooler

    Sorry, it was on an 05. But Berzerker did state that he had just replaced the delta pressure sensor in his earlier comments. Perhaps he is wrong on the year as well.

    Need a little advice;
    I have an 05 Columbia with a 14L detroit. Under 1500rpm it splutters and and struggles, but once it gets above 1500rpm it seems fine. I've replaced the turbo, delta P sensor, fuel pump, ecm, v pod, wiring harness amongst other things.
    I had a mechanic tell me the ecm and turbo need to be calibrated but i've also had people tell me you cant do it on the Detroit.
    I also replaced the exhaust rockers. This seemed to be the start of me throwing money at this truck to figure out the problem.
    Any help is appreciated!

    I have had great success in getting rid of the sputter or coughing at 1200-1400 RPM range by adding the Ugly Charlotte fix. Something to consider. They are about $100.

    These trucks go through ITV's for some reason, I think they can't handle the heat of the egr. It won't throw codes, or if it does log a code it will usually be a turbo code. Many expensive and unnecessary turbo rrepair/replacements due to this. I've learned that if it's surging, and losing boost psi and coughing puffs of black smoke it's almost always the ITV. I replace the throttle valve on mine and I'm good to go for anywhere to 6mos to a year...
