I graduated from roadmaster drivers school on 9/27/13, I have been turned down by swift, trans am, werner, covenant, knight/squire, stevens transport, and schnider (I believe that's all of them)

in the state I am licensed (Indiana) I have a clean mvr for the last 3.5 years with the exception of seatbelt ticket in march of this year, that said in the state of Arizona when I was a ######## kid (broke to boot) in 2007 I was speeding (101 in a 75) I didn't have the thousand dollars to pay the ticket until January 2012 at which point Arizona issued a suspension for the entire time I didn't pay that ticket on my Arizona mvr

outside of those 2 things on my mvr I am clean for the last 3.5 years

beyond that... it's not great... at all... again the problems of having been a ######## kid (and broke to boot)

    Sent Private Message to you.

When you do find a driving job, stick with the company for 6-12 months to prove to future employers you've settled down and not a job hopper.

it's crazy to me that I knocked out the entire program at roadmaster (19 days straight 9/9 - 9/27), passed the state exam, and got the physical license in less time than it's taken for me to still not have a job

U should look into flat bed trucking they are begging for drivers is it builders (bts) something like.that, maverick, western express, us express had a friend get hired on there he had 2 accidents, look into smaller companies they are sometime a little more forgiving try and get it expunged off yo record go talk to Lawyer you may have 2 pay about 500 but it will be well spent may be look at local jobs good luck God bless

The state laws I've read on expungement don't allow traffic violations.

Burbanator the actual ticket is not what is hurting you. If Indiana caught wind of the Arizona suspension they would have cancelled or suspended your license until you cleared that up. Almost all companies don't allow a suspended license or reckless driving ticket in the last 3 years.

You are probably looking at Feb 2015 before a mega-carrier training company will hire you. If you had experience it would be a different story. Keep looking though. You might find an owner operator that could use a team driver and might teach you the ropes.

In the future always fight your tickets. If you can't win many times they'll reduce the charges. Like yours they might of dropped it down to 5 or 10 mph over the speed limit which then takes it out of the major violation category.

Like I said u can get traffic tickets expunged(sealed) whichever sound best to you in the state of Arkansas you go down to district court pick up paper the difficult part is finding a Lawyer to fill out paper work for u that want charge u a arm and leg call driver control of that state or talk to the district court u can get it if it's keeping you from earning a living that's all a Lawyer gone do is convince a judge that u learned yo lesson do some research in yo state all them people can do is tell you no or yes people like to dash hope when it's given

burb, you need to be careful here. You've put in a bunch of apps and been turned down a bunch of times. HireRight picks that up. You've got folks here that will tout companies and the recommendation amounts to, "Don't worry, buddy. I've got some companies so bad, they'll hire you TODAY."

That's no favor, not at all. A bad company can flat ruin your CDL. The turn-downs you racked up will be seen by most any larger company. You have options. Lots of carriers and companies (distribution centers, for example) have yard hostlers, dock workers and oodles of shipping and receiving positions where a CDL would be a big plus and gain you some more experience around the yard and short trips. Your CDL isn't going away unless you let someone convince you to ruin it.

Don't let someone sell you a bad job with a lousy company. There's no future in it. Steer clear of snake peddlers.

It isn't the ticket that is causing your problem at this point. It is the suspension. Your mvr is showing a 3.5 year suspension. Most carriers and insurance companies won't touch you until 3 years have passed from the time it was reinstated. You may find a company, but it has only been a year, from your post. You may want to get a copy of your mvr and see how it appears. Most carriers and insurance companies only consider the last 3 years when looking at your mvr. Had you paid the ticket sooner, this might not be a problem. I understand that you may not have had the money to pay this at the time, but you allowed several years to pass without taking care of it. That in itself could be problematic for some carriers. Most states will work with you to pay fines if you don't have the resources to pay the entire amount. But, you need to call them and see what can be worked out. In this business you try to avoid any tickets. If you receive a ticket you need to fight it. Your livelihood literally relies on having a clean mvr with NO suspensions or moving violations. Some carriers will allow 2 or perhaps as many as 3 moving violations. The ticket you received would have been an automatic loss of a job in this industry once the carrier and insurance company found out. Anything 15 mph or greater is considered reckless driving. With my insurance company any ticket over 84 mph will disqualify a driver, regardless of the posted speed limit.

You may want to ask those carriers who turned you down for the reason and when they might reconsider hiring you. My guess is that they won't look at you until the suspension drops off your record. That occurs at the end of 3 years from when your license was reinstated. Should you apply to other carriers you could fax or email them a copy of your current mvr and ask them whether they would consider you. They would be able to tell you before going through the actual application process. If you already had experience, it might not be as much of a problem, but without experience you are more limited. Most carriers hire those who have experience. That is primarily due to insurance. Even if a carrier likes you, they still need to get your information past the insurance company. You might check with local construction companies. Some of them might be able to insure you to drive a dump truck. I have known some owners who are more lenient than the otr companies. At least you would be working and earning money while gaining some driving experience. Although driving a dump won't count for otr experience, it would be much better than sitting around twiddling your thumbs.
