Hi I'm looking at possibly starting out on my own. I am looking at a 2000 kenworth w900l. It does not have a DEF system. Will I have to have one installed to run in all states or just California that I won't be able to? Thanks
DEF required in what states?

Would not be able to add an emissions system to a truck and engine that wasn’t designed for it.
There was a company a while back adding DPF systems to trucks, but they gave up on it.Bean Jr., Arctic_fox and AriGab Thank this. -
2000 is a great year for almost every engine manufacturer. Other than Cali you’re good to run it . Be aware a w900 won’t be very fuel efficient unless run very slow .. expect low to mid 5’s when figuring your fuel consumption.

You need a 2010 and newer to come into the Communist State. Here’s a tip, you’re not ready to purchase a truck. Go get some experience first and learn what’s going on in this industry. By your post, you have absolutely no clue what’s going on in this industry’s. Can you say “Inflation” ?
Bean Jr. Thanks this.
