I pulled hazmat tanker hauling mostly acid, running 48 states and Canada and that was the easiest trucking I'd done.snowman1980, Sassytrucker2023 and ducnut Thank this. -

Another suggestion:
You now have more than enough experience pulling "boxes"....to make the transition over to tanker.
Note: The vast majority of drivers who do make the switch over to tanker....don't go back.
Why?
Tanker simply offers many advantages over other forms of freight.
There are threads over in the "Tanker, Bulk and Dump Trucking" section of the Forum, that discuss these advantages in some detail.
There are at least 2 food-grade tanker companies based over in Lake Wales, FL.
Previously, I drove for Oakley Transport.
I would recommend (of those) that you start out with Indian River (via post #2, above).
They also have another relatively new terminal up in Cordele, GA.
Think about it....

i did initially want to do tanker but for whatever reason, I didn’t follow through. Guess I was comfortable where I was at. -
GTS also in winter haven and do tanker. Talked to an Oakley driver they can opt for daily pay or mileage

How did I like Oakley, you ask?
Well....I was there only 4 months. What does that tell you?
Basically....Oakley does (for the most part) trailer pump-offs, whereas over at Indian River...the customer usually does the pumping/offloading. But Indian River does have trailers with pump equipment.
Indian River will likely have you running more loads out west (especially up in the northwest--VER-RY SCENIC runs!). So if you wanna see more of the United States, Indian River would probably be first pick.....for that reason, too.
Your takeaway: Get pump-off experience from somewhere else, first--THEN you can think about Oakley.
In truth, you probably should spend some time reading in/thru the Forum thread I referenced back in post #2....it's easily one of the best threads here on the Forum. A lot of the posts/answers there are from current Indian River drivers, so you get a good first-hand account of what life is like there.
There is no similar such thread here for Oakley Transport. What does that tell you?

Abco seems to have their S together when it comes to Florida based companies.
bryan21384 and tscottme Thank this.
