DDI hauls east of I-35. Your only required to drive Mon-Fri... Home by Friday night, out by Sunday evening. We earn between 549.00-1600.00 per week. That $549 is the guy that doesn't like working. No forced dispatch, no new York or Canada. No hazmat. 100% drop n hook. Small company of about 30 drivers. Well maintained white freight liners. If you want to run weekends they'll run you. I was just hired and a friend of mine drive there 3 years. Hope this helps.

Yes i work for them now, based out of philly we haul containers for them (intermodle),I am not happy with the pay i receive every week, its like im living pay check to pay check,Its because DDI deals with a 3rd party so the monies are split 3 ways, and the o/o's get the less of it DDI'S pay rates for o/o's are very low,and why now ones stays with them.If your a company driver i guess you,ll do ok,but for an o/o its not the place to be......

It is OK on the company side but the money on the O/O looks like maybe 20K to 30K more with all the possible bad side of ownership. Dispatch needs to go back to school as you will sit hours waiting for a reload often. Could make a good bit more if you could keep the wheels rolling but your dependent on the planners and they...well you sit way to much.

Short haul company but they want to pay long haul rates to drivers with no hook or D&H pay in the plan so if you work your ### off and drive hot most days you can make $1,000 to $1,300 a week.

No benefits, insurance is high but over all good people to work with, the owners will give you a straight answer to a question.

There are only two people in the company that have a CDL, Ed Sargent the recruiter and a pissy dispatcher. So don't expect the owners to understand your point of view as a driver, they have never driven...but nice guys.

Over all a good place to work out of, Kinda depends on what you make of it.

I am looking for someone in the philly area to haul containers or at least be home daily. I have heard exactly what you said about their pay and doing so much 3rd party work.

Is there anybody "good" in this area to make money with?

Might want to look for another carrier than DDI. If your going to quit, don't give them any advance notice as they will fire you right away once you give notice.

I have spoken with Ed a few times. I will more than likely move my truck to DDI. I don't know about their OTR Division as I will be with the Intermodal side of company pulling from the railyards in Va. I made the mistake of moving my truck to a company pulling from the ports, hard to get things done when your waiting in lines getting in, unloading and getting out as well as the container yards. DDI seems to keep their O/O busy with the normal slow downs during holiday seasons. Most important thing is being home every night and off every weekend. O/O do have to have their own App Tag and BT & Physical Damage insurance as they do not offer it at this time for O/O. seems like a solid company with a large customer base.

They are a hard running, short ,no miles company, pa/va/md/wv mostly, they also do nc/ occasional in/oh not making a lot of money but if you want to be home every weekend this may be job for you. I was in truck that had 2 other guys oreintation paperwork left in it, all 3 of us left in a matter of weeks. They say drop/hook, live unload etc. They have driver assist and will not tell you, they pay $15 an hour for that, Which is too low for me. They do seem to be nice people, but you can't be starting veteran drivers at 35cpm, and expect them to stay, and most days you will be working up to your 14 hour clock.

    Veteran driver Thanks this.

I just did my Dot Physical & Drug Screen today in Wilmington, Delaware for DDI. My recruiter is a guy named Patrick Smith, he answers all my questions and is always friendly with me on the phone, yes I know he is just a recruiter but I got a good vibe off him when I talked to him the first time. He told me that I'll get home every weekend for 48 hours off instead of a 34 hour restart which other companies are trying to do like US EXPRESS who wanted me but they told me that they could only get me home just for a 34 and I said heck no. My recruiter also told me DDI does a lot of Lowe's with double drop and hooks at the consignee which is good so you don't have to do a lot of waiting I am told. I have also heard that they have PeopleNet but are on paper logs still, so I don't know on that. He told me that there trucks are 2014 so I guess I'm not going to be in anything old and if they have no trucks in Ashland they will give me the newest rental they can get til I get a company truck. I'm told that the trucks only go 65mph also.

If anyone has been told different about what I was told please reply back.

    Thanks

Nice little story about DDI Transportation.

I saw DDI Transportation on Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Craigslist a couple weeks back and talked with a recruiter named Patrick Smith. Very friendly person I could tell by talking to him on the phone. I did a application and got approved to come work for DDI. This past Monday I had an appointment at 11am in Essington which is South of Philadelphia to do some paperwork and get a truck and head down to Ashland, Virginia for Tuesday. I told my recruiter Mr. Smith that at 9:30am on Monday morning I had an appointment to do my taxes with my CPA and after I would be down to do my paperwork. Well my appointment didn't finish til about 12noon. I called my recruiter on his personal cell phone to tell him that I was on my way, he didn't pick up, I sent him text messages he wouldn't respond at all. Last night I responded again asking can we meet up on Tuesday at 9am, no reply. So I called Ashland, Virginia and talked to the head recruiter and the man told me on the phone that if you have an appointment you keep it! So DDI is now not interested in me ALLLLL because I had an appointment with my tax lady so I didn't get in trouble with the IRS.....hello and its my fault.

Nobody work for that crappy company that doesn't care about anyone but themselves in Ashland, Virginia. I bet drivers that if you had a death in the family or something seriously they would fire you on the spot because they don't care at ALL about there drivers they care only about themselves!

    (DON'T WORK FOR DDI TRANSPORTATION)
