I called UT. So, your egr system is still functioning or is it just deleted in the ecm? I am just looking for a solid running truck. Fuel economy is at the top of the list. I haul mostly light(15-25K in box). The first few weeks I had the truck I was getting about 7.3 pump to pump. It has gradually went down, even after all the work i have had done(about 8k worth) at Detroit for performance issues. I have seem to have leveled off the last several weeks to about 5.3-5.5. Then on Thursday the turbo started blowing oil. I am thinking that the turbo was just gradually getting bad since I have had the truck. The truck sat for a few months before i bought it.

Pdi has good products....and I am a dealer myself .....but I will say you will get better service dealing with Kurt, myself or Jerry Ray than you will get in UT.....I think the mentality is different as well as they are constantly on the phone and every trucker has a story....after awhile you get immune to it if you are not carefull...

Thanks! I am willing to deal with anyone that provides a good product, great customer service, and has some knowlage about what they are selling. I just cant stomach the companies that just want to swipe your card and ship your parts, with this mentality, you will run out of "new" customers. I also like to give my money to "the little guy" as that is what most of us are on here, and that is what keeps us going. -

The 14L EGR engines require the Stage 2 turbo with a tune. The Stage 1 turbo is for the 12.7L engines and a tune. You can install the smaller turbo, but it won't last much more than a year or so before it explodes. This is why they priced the larger turbo to you. From the posts in this thread I'm going to assume that you'll need to upgrade the exhaust manifold. PDI casts their own center section for the exhaust manifold to reenforce the area where they are prone to cracking. I'm not sure in my price sheet is up to date on the price of a manifold, but the prices I have listed are
Detroit center section non-EGR $660
Detroit non EGR Complete Manifold $875
Detroit non EGR Complete Manifold Extrude Honed and Coated $1450
plus shipping costs
The Stage 1 tuning with EGR and VG Turbo delete is $3250
The Stage 2 turbo is $2450
plus shipping
the complete parts and tuning should be $7100 plus shipping with the best manifold they sell, if my price sheet is correct.......it is a year old, so I could be wrong in this price quote
I don't understand the price difference you quoted in the thread compared to mine, so I must be missing something. PDI and all dealers have the same pricing. I'll have to check with Jerry Ray to see why there is a difference -
Thanks Mr. Haney! That is a lot more then I was expecting to spend, based on the info I gathered from their site. Looks like I will have to go another route for now. Just dont know which one -
Well said YamahaH:

So, heres an update.....Found a small local shop that my cousin works at but I didnt know he did. I stopped in this past Tuesday and picked the guys brain. He seemed like a very knowlegable guy and mentioned a few things the big shops didnt or haven't check on my truck. He has been turning wrenches 29 years and on his own for 16. As luck would have it, my turbo takes a crap 2 days later 100 miles from home. I call them up and they said they could get to late afternoon or Friday morning. Just the shop I've been looking for. Nice friendly people, thinks outside of the book and factory specs. Says he wants to check a few other things to make sure all is good before the new turbo goes on and I said that was fine. We will get you taken care of ,he says, you need to get back to work. Wow, I'm really gonna like this shop.......WRONG!!! I stopped in Friday late afternoon, the guy had went to the auction(seems he buys and sells used cars also). No big deal I thought, every guy has to have a little down time, right?? Besides, it would have taken me a couple days at least to get in at any other shop. So, I was informed that they would be getting started on it first thing Monday morning. So, today I call them at about 4pm. His wife answers(she runs the office), I asked how the truck was coming along. She informs me, they had 2 engine jobs going the other day when I was there and didn't know when he could get to the truck!!!! WTF??? Now, this is the kind of info that a guy would like to know when he calls for an appointment, not after the truck has been there for three days. Where has all the customer service gone these days?? Is it really that hard to be honest with someone and treat them with the respect that YOU want?
