DD15 Serpentine belt.

    My 2009 DD15 is eating serpentine belts and I wonder if anyone else has run inti this problem. This current belt lasted almost 28,000 miles. The belt is being damaged on the outer edge,I have inspected the pulleys and cant see anything that might be causing this damage. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

    [​IMG]i service a fleet of DD15/13.even though yours may look o.k.,these new style tensioners play tricks on your eyes,ears and mind (trust me!).this is probably your issue.you cannot buy the idler pulleys alone .you must buy complete assembly.buy the one from ebay (same price as dealer) so you can keep your old one as a spare.if you buy from dealer they want yours as a core.good luck!

    While helping the road service guy replace the belt we noticed that when I cranked it up the belt slides off the tensioner pully just a bit. When stopped it returns to the proper position. This would expain the wear to the outside of the belt and why it just eventually just slips off. Good thing is it has not gotten into the fan either time. Sometimes having a second set of eyes is all it takes. I will follow your advice and just replace the whole assembly. Thanks for your time!

    I don't know about Detroit, but my cat tension pulleys I bought at a carquest parts store for a lot less than from cat. maybe you can do the same with a Detroit.
