I am writing this post as a testimony of my experience with DC Training found in Florence, SC. When I decided to go for a Class A license and get into the trucking industry, the search was for a reputable program with decent equipment and great trainers. After looking around, I found DC Training. The owners, David and Cori (DC) were extremely helpful and helped in every way to get you in class. Always quick to answer all my questions prior to starting the school. It really punctuated my decision to go with them.
The first week was in class to prepare you to pass your permit testing at the DMV. Julius was the main instructor at the time, a long time trucker that spent most of his years in the FLATBED community. He was extremely helpful and informative and it helped me pass my permit tests first time through.
The second week was range time, backing, serpentine, double clutching, etc. Alley docking was really working me out, just had a fit grasping things and of course Julius, as well as Steve and James, provided insight and really guided me along. Never raised their voices and worked with me until I was hitting it regularly. The most nerve racking part was going from my straight drive truck and corvette to this massive combination vehicle that required double clutching, it was an interesting first and second day of OTR driving. Of course, my main man Julius coached me through it and really showed patience and guided me through it. Eventually in time, James took over during my night driving and city driving and before I knew it, I was comfortable in everything they put me into. It was like eating puddin'! That was James' infamous statement.
If you are in the area and really want to get into the industry and need a door to enter to get the initial training you need, I HIGHLY recommend DC Training. They also have a small classroom in Conway, SC too and Tommy over there seemed top notched also.
They also had several recruiters come in throughout the course that provided us incite on the industry and doors to enter if you wanted to go with the likes of WERNER, McELROY, CT, USX, COVENANT TRANSPORT, and others.
Thanks for letting me share my experience,
Micah
