I am interested in hearing what your opinions are on the issue. Those of you who have operated both day cab and a small sleeper (36" 44") which do you prefer. Pros and cons of the day cab and small sleeper. Which do you prefer and why?

Have you ever operated a tractor with a small sleeper and ran into a position where you really wish your tractor would have just been a day cab?

Not sure what part of the world you're in but...... Have you ever operated a tractor without a sleeper and been stuck in a position where you HAD to sleep in it? Such as a snowstorm shuts down the roads? Not saying you'll ever need the bunk. But it's nice to know it's back there if you do.

always get a sleeper,,in trucking there are delays and a place for a driver to rest is a plus,as an owner operator today your runs might not need a sleeper but one or two years later you may need one when your operations change,
Years ago I had a dedicated run,,I had 2 trucks 220 miles out and then back every day,,I bought trucks with sleepers and I was glad I did,,after 4 years I lost then haul but because I had sleepers the next work that I got I needed sleepers, A sleeper will not hut you.

A day cab driver waiting to be loaded/unloaded is supposed to log on duty.

A driver with a sleeper can log SB.

Thats not true, I'd like to see that regulation.

You can log off duty anywhere. Even sitting in the drivers seat.

You can log off duty with or without a sleeper, but
You can't log sleeper unless you have a sleeper

I'll go one better. Sounds like the OP needs a short truck. I have both, a large sleeper and a short(168" wb) tractor. Yea, it isn't an 86" studio, but it is as big as most fleet high rise sleepers.
Definitely get the sleeper. Even the legal minimum sleeper(24") is better than nothing. Put a window in the back and it is just like a day cab...
