Great point too Big Don... :yes2557: I once had a Mexican male team partner, he was young (in his 20s), married with 2 young kids... Family type of guy. For 2 weeks we ran only in California and went by his town a couple times. Both times we stopped nearby his house so he could see his wife and kids. But it was heartbreaking for him to leave his kids crying.... I told him maybe this job wasnt for him...

I know exactly where you're coming from, and some folks can't stand to see you not hooked up with someone, they think you must be sick or something (not normal). I think it makes them uncomfortable. Maybe they are sick for not realizing people have choices to make how they choose to live and their influence won't rule us.

I really can't imagine trying to be OTR with a young family. You are needed too badly at home, while your kids are growing up. And when you miss it, it never comes around again.

This really is a job for a "loner." When I was OTR, my kids were all grown. I was well into my current marriage, (# 3 and the final one,) and my wife and I had both been alone for enough years that we were comfortable with being alone. That, coupled with having a plan, made all the difference in the world. We spoke daily, sometimes more than once. We went for almost six months one time, without seeing each other. That sucked, big time. But in the end, it was worth it. Long term goals were achieved, and that life style was then behind us.

I for one, would not have any "serious" (or even non-serious) relationship with a truck driver... that is me.... And I know of a truck driver who lost his wife... she cheated on him while he was on the road....:biggrin_25513:

Never say never. If you happened to run into your dreamboat and he was a truck driver and you got to know him and found he was true to himself, then he would be true to you as well.

People can be down right annoying trying to set you up with relatives/friends/coworkers and they never seem to take the hint, NOT INTERESTED, I'll find them on my own by my own choosing!

I dont say never... But my dreamboat... :biggrin_2559: Been there, done that... several times... Finally I realize I REALLY enjoy not having a "lover"... Besides, my priorities nowadays consume all my time, my thoughts and my energy.... However, I would really like to have more quality friends... but they dont happen over night... and this kind of job doesnt help either...
