Another Armour All user I see :biggrin_25523: Or maybe you inherited the issue...I dunno.

Just keep spraying Armour All on it, in a couple of years it will have all peeled off. Other than that, I know of no way to remove the coating, which is bonded on.

FYI for future reference MOST manufacturers warn against using Armour All on the dash, due to the process used in color coating. It's in the owners manual.

Not sure why they put that stuff on there, I've got the same problem. A layer of plastic coating that peels like sunburned skin.

Let's say cleaning it up is a "work in progress".

Getting it all at one time would use up a weekend, so I wait 'till I'm bored. Really, really bored.

That layer of plastic, is paint.

Not just any paint. But a paint designed specifically for covering ABS plastics.

It can be removed with acrisol. But only if you're careful, and don't leave it sitting in the sun too long. IE don't apply in bright sunlight. And be prepared for the smell in your cab....for days to come.

A light sanding won't hurt. But it's gonna look sanded if you use to coarse a grade of paper.

I got the problem too in a freightliner Columbia never used armor all. But who knows what they used on it before I got it cause it's a Ryder truck.

This is a BIG issue with all Freightliners.

The owners manual, and some dash stickers clearly state "Do not use Armour All"

It breaks down the paint, and causes it to release.

It's caused me to quit using Armour All on my personal vehicles. All I do is wipe them down with a damp cloth, and keep them dusted.

It doesn't make sense cause the door panels are the same color of what's under the peeling. why would they have to make it 2 different colors?

Have never used Armour All, but Lemon Pledge works great. Been using it for years, on trucks and my personal vehicals. It leaves a nice look and smells good and wont be oily and sticky like most protectants.
