Hey all. So with my cascadia it has the divided front windshield. My question is where is a good spot to put the dashcam so it can view as much as possible on the front

I put mine on the passenger window on top near the divided. Make sure it is recording where your window wipers wipes at or you be just recording rain drops and ice

I like mine at the bottom 1/4 from center...where I can reach it to hit the "save" button, but it doesn't block my view of anything but the hood. It gives as close to a "what I can see" view through the windshield as possible without interfering with what I can see. Last thing I want to have happen is for that camera to show something in a blind spot...where a jury will watch and say "how could you miss that?". If I can't see it, I don't want my camera to pick it up.

In my Cascadia past and present, I have a big screen Garmin DEZL GPS, and it fits as far up in the upper, outer, driver-side corner (no, it's not obstructing any critical view area, I don't care what you think, in fact it serves as a sun visor some times) My little Cobra dash-cam will fit in "behind" the GPS where I can only see the very bottom of it, and is easily accessible to press the button and gets cleared with the wiper.

I've kept my GPS there for years and through three level 1's and no one has ever said anything about that location.

I have a DEZL from Garmin. I love it. I put it directly in front of me and use it as my speedometer.

Now, I also grew up in the Photography business. I like to use the rule of thirds. The horizon should be 1/3 of the way down from the top of the screen. To many times the sky is dominate and dash cam video fails to grab your attention. We are looking for Academy Award level efforts from the truckers here. As you know actors and film makers are now considered experts on all things. That is BS as only Truckers know everything.

I keep it showing just a hair of my hood at the bottom of the screen. Doesn't do any good to angle it down to show more hood than that. One reason to show more "sky" would be to see overhead traffic signals as you enter an intersection...might just save your bacon if somebody is claiming you ran a red.

Right Side Windshield towards the top at the edge of the wiper reach/swept area.

I did top left upper corner of the windshield, so it is within the wiper sweep, and close to reach easily.
The other option would have been bottom center on the left side of the split, but on the Cascadia, I would really have to stretch to reach it.
My camera is pretty small, and I rarely notice it up there. It is right next to the oil change sticker, and not much bigger lol

When I get around to getting a good GPS (I currently use the sucky Peoplenet built in Navigation, combined with Google Maps on my phone, which is mounted), I plan on putting it on the dash next to the radio, so just below windshield line of sight.
