Instead of going through company sponsered CDL training I found out that I qualify for funding through WIA. I will be starting school within a few weeks. Does anyone recommend a CDL school in Georgia? I have looked at Daly's Truck Driving School in Buford and I am looking at Georgia Driving Academy in Conyers. Anyone hear anything about these programs? Is there another program in Georgia I should consider? Any experiences would be appreciated.

I have looked into a few Technical Colleges and they seemed to have very good programs. The only draw back for me is that the summer semester for the programs start at the end of June and I will not complete the program until mid September. The courses last a little over 2 months. Financially I would not make it until September.

If you qualify for WIA you may also qualify for a stipend they provide to help you survive financialy while you are in school. The tech schools (colleges, as they are now certified) offer some of the best training around. Chedk into them a little deeper, they may be just what you need and you won't be liable to any particular trucking company for the training.

    Best of luck,

I just graduated from GDA, I think you should go have a look at both schools. I don't know about Daly's , but if you have any questions about GDA I could answer them.

Daly's is a waste of time and money - just a lot of rude, impatient, easily frustrated instructors and Mr. Daly is defensive and arrogant.

iapplied for thwia program in oct08 said i didnot qualify at the time and to come back in jan09 and i should be approved. well i went back and was told the program was out of money untill may or june. so you might want to check and see if there is money to give you to start school. i then went to central refregerated service's school in salt lake city utah. school costs 3000 but you only pay 1200 back at 25 per week if you sign a 1year contract to drive for them. you might want to check them out. school is only 2 weeks long with 28 days with a trainer then you get your own truck.

yep I am 100% bashing Daly's - that is my intention - anywhere that I can find any search with Daly's name in it - I plan on posting - that is how strongly I feel that it was such a mistake and waste of time on my part - and in those classes that started around the time I did 11/10/08 and the people that I met - around 20 - 25 people failed - now, one person there could have had a positve experience and I quess that is something - but what about the rest - who were screamed, and cursed at? those people including myself shouldn't have the right to say hey something isn't right here..... I know 2 who called lawyers.......maybe he hasn't always had these problem I don't know - I just know that he has them now - and before you spend the money that I wasted - I think you should at least know the potential for this exsits. Isn't that the point? If I didn't feel so strongly about it I wouldn't waste my time anyway So yep, I am bashing Daly's and they deserve it much more than I can even do - and why are you so worried that I am bashing them? maybe you work for them....
