I've been listening to the ATN on and off and lots of talk about Bozo tonight. It seems he is in hospice and he's getting ready to take that final ride into the sunset. I never agreed much with his politics, thought the callers were goofy, but listening to him for years on WLW and now SiriusXM, he was all about truckers, and I appreciated it. Anyonw who has been driving any length of time knows the Bozo. He'd tell some stories that would put those "You ain't gonna believe this....." trucker stories to shame! From the 10 years I've been driving and the years before being on the road with my dad, two things were certain, Howard Stern in the morning and the Bozo at night, and most recently in the afternoons on the Road Dog. Even as much as he drove you nuts, you knew the guy had a genuine soft spot for us on the road. There's a Facebook page to send messages to the Sommers family and when the time comes I'm sure there will be other tribute pages/ sites/ etc and places to donate to charity in his name. I'm not going to try and speed the process along, but I'll always have fond memories and an email conversation we had last year after a political argument on his show. We ended up actually having a laugh over it and he referred to me as a friend, which I'm sure was a title he bestowed on the thousand of us he came in contact with over the years. Whenever the time comes, it'll be a sad day for all of us whom he kept awake during those overnight drives, no matter if it was laughter or wanting to grab him through the radio. We'll miss you Bozo. You were the best, and thank you for all you've done for us.

The Truckin' Bozo has died. RIP Dale Sommers.

Word just came that Dale Sommers, known to truckers as " The Truckin' Bozo", has died following a long battle with health issues. He was 68 years old. He started the Truckin Bozo overnight show on 700 WLW back in 1984, retiring and handed over the reigns to son Steve Sommers who runs it now. The retirement was short lived as he went to XM Radio and had a show there on Open Road which became Road Dog after the Sirius/XM merger. Thanx for keeping us between the ditches Bozo. RIP.

R.I.P Dale. You will be missed a great deal. Thank you for the memories. My prayers go out to the Sommers family, and to the trucking world, it is a sad day.

Thanx to whoever combined this. I don't know how.

The trucking world lost a true legend and icon. Words can't describe how saddened we are. He shared his whole life with us. If you've listened to him, you know what I'm talking about. GOD BLESS THE BOZO.
There is a Facebook group encouraging to run with our lights on from now til the 1st. -
Have a safe journey to the other side Good Buddy. We will all miss you out here on the road.
