Hi all
My question today is about the DAC reports that companies use. When is a report opened on a new driver? Is it created when you fill out an application, if/when you actually go to company orientation? Only once your actually driving something. How widespread is the use of the DAC? Is it only major carriers or do smaller ones use them too? (What is considered a major carrier is this case?) Hopefully this information will be useful to others as well.
Thank you all so very much![]()

Hi Requiemforroksy,
Speaking on behalf of a company with 500+ units - I usually start the employment verification or DAC's after new driver has been sent for a drug test ( My company's policy requires min. 2 years of experience.) At this point we have 30 days to complete the verification per DOT. Some companies have a faster turnaround time than others, but you can put a driver to work while DAC's are being completed. We don't do this just for the fact that someone could lie on their APP and not meet our 2 year requirement. Last thing we want is a service failure and complaints from our customers. It's happen before with us before , and easily fixed by verification before continuing with application.
For us, After we've verified DAC's /Work history and we can verify 2 years - we go ahead and send him/her to orientation and then the road.
Thanks

I think DAC is started when you go for orientation.DAC is very wide spread, all the mega carriers use it.Some of the smaller ones don't.A major or mega carrier is 500 or more trucks.Werner,Schneider,JBHUNT,CRENGLAND,Crst are all mega carriers.

Your DAC file is not started until a company puts something on it. At least that is what a DAC rep told me.

Nothing can be put in it until employment is terminated. And it doesn't matter if a company uses it or not. The prospective employer still has to send a past employment verification and the past employer can say the same things that would be entered on DAC. Thinking that a small carrier that doesn't use it will hide something is false.

DAC isn't the only report out there.
