Ok So i have a d13 in my shop everything was perfectly fine than it got really cold and the truck started showing low fuel psi code and check fuel filter. when this happened the truck will only go to 45mph and will start bumping real bad like it has air in the fuel system or it's not getting enough fuel. went thru everyting first ran line from tank to main supply same problem nothing changed. next step replaced fuel filter housing and filters with volvo oem. still same problem. replaced fuel pump and ecm with known good parts. problem was still same ran a clear line from the head to filter housing found air present so had my mind set on injectors. went ahead and replace all cups and injectors and now it's still same problem. I need some D13 experts out there line @benrab to chime in and let me know if i am missing something or maybe someone has ran into this kind of problem before. What's strange is that from what it seems like when ileave truck in the shop overnight and then start and drive everything seems to work perfectly fine then when truck sits out in the cold problems start happening. I have more than one person tell me to check the def system although there is no faults they are saying that it could cause it. It doesn't make sense to me this #### has really got me scratching my head. All help is appreciated THANK YOU.

I hate cold weather issues like that. I had a similar issue on a small piece of portable construction equipment earlier this week. Was getting a ton of air in the fuel. Replaced every single fuel line and bypassed the filters. Still didn't fix it. Ended up finding a small hairline crack in a steel 90 degree fitting. Pulled my hair out for 2 days trying to find that one. I've never seen a Volvo engine before but it might be worth checking the fittings for cracks.

Hey Cousin! Had one doing this a month ago. Did what you did (dealer did cups since I refuse to do any more) Ended up being that aftertreatment fuel module that feeds the 7th injector located down low, driver side block. Good luck!

I did an PM oil change in TA truck stop, in Georgia, when the lube genius removed the fuel filter came out with the mounting part and lost the piece inside , it's a hexagonal plunger like a .50 cal size bullet ,conical at both ends, that gravitationally regulates the fuel pressure through filter. He didn't say anything, installed filter back, I paid the bill the truck was not pulling was showing low fuel presure moving 45 mph, I could.t pull the trailer, took it bob slowly to Volvo in Atlanta and it cost me 1000$ to replace the whole fuel filter assembly, because they don't sell the little piece . It's kind of poor design, if the fuel filter is over torqued at installation ,there's are good chances to come off with this mounting part at next filter change .I don't change oil in truck stops anymore.
The worst hidden problem with kind of similar symptoms I ever had on D13 was a malfunctioning EGR valve without throwing any codes . I took to most Volvo Shops from Texas to Ontario, they could figure out. Here in Ayr ,ON at Volvo , a technician tried everything suspected egr, replaced it and problem solved.Last edited: Jan 14, 2017
