    Hello,
I recently applied with cypress truck lines out of Jacksonville, FL. I have been invited to orientation this coming Monday. Do any current or former drivers have any Intel to offer about this company? Thanks all

I drove for Cypress for four months, before they forced me out. They will never ever fire someone. They make you go OTR and they''ll leave you somewhere, and you will quit. I was a local gypsum driver. Bob Pace is the dispatcher. He's and ####### and a coward. He will scream at and demean you publically.
Side note: If you were not in the Marines, they will find a way to make you quit.
DO NOT DRIVE FOR CYPRESS OR SUN BELT. Both owned by the Penland family,

If you want a local job, find a company that hauls containers from the port. Thats what I do and am extremely happy.
If you prefer to stay OTR, go to Marten Transport. I drove for them and was very happy with the company and equipment.

The dispatchers and Safety are a joke, don't think you are getting a new truck. Try one like beat to the ground with over a million miles. Tarp pay is 15.00 really. Plan on running your tail off. You will drive 11 hours a day period . If you stop you will get a phone call . After a few warnings you will get a vacation . Far out in Texas with nothing around for miles. Home on weekend really means 34 hours....

Port work is a whole nother world. Everyone wants experience but you cant get until someone gives you a chance. The hardest thing about dealing ports is how fast everything happens and they love to change rules and layouts. Once you have yr TWIC card, ride with the guy that will hire you. He can show you the ropes. Best I can tell you is call some local companies and ask if any of their drivers (some own multiple trucks) is looking.
You will need a TWIC card from the port office on Blount Island. $130 I believe.
    Any other questions, please ask.
