You definitely hit something, hence the big scrape on the sidewall. Can you see cords? If so, change it.....quick. if not and it's not making a bunch of noise or bouncing down the road......I would run it until I got home, then change it.

    Alvin L Thanks this.

No, can’t see cord anywhere on the tire. The cut is no more than 2mm deep. I’m in California now, can’t drive much faster than the 55MPH speed limit.

The cut doesn't look bad. The chunking does though. Because once it starts, it usually just gets worse....
When it's that large of an area. If nothing else, use it on a trailer or a spare.

Looks to be a steer tire. I don't chance those tires as it could cost you something major. I would be getting that thing off ASAP without being stupid about it. If you have to deliver something soon great then get it done afterwords.

:crybaby::cwm10: :sad1:,,and so on. Get it off ASAP, it's how you get trailer tires. So you can't just buy one steer tire, so there goes $1,000 dollars, only to pick up a bolt tomorrow. I don't know how,,or why, you guys do this today.:dontknow:

The cut in the sidewall would bug me a little, most just cause the areas I run.

The tread part being missing is pretty common. Concrete slabs with sharp edges, not turning into it sharp enough. (If you go over at a shallow angle the tire rolls and it peels tread off) where as you turn hard into it and the tire just climbs over it.

If you do anykind of driving on rough terrain #### happens. Just try to watch out for it to save yourself downtime

Need more convincing? Happens fast,,I never had a steer tire let go in all my miles. Talk about lucky, a couple seconds earlier, they would have creamed those cars turning. Amazing, blissfully unaware they came so close to injury.
