Is it possible to get custom grilles and hoods that will give the newer Freightliner trucks (including Columbia) a nice, retro look?

I know you can buy the newer model Century (05-10) grille and put them on a old series one. The Columbia hood has remained the same throughout its production as far as I know. You could have a custom bumper made for it.

Miamistar or usa star has grilles bumpers and visors for a columbia. You can also get projector headlights for it.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping someone was making a retro-style hood, grille and bumper that makes a newer Freightliner Columbia look like an older (FLD or Classic). If someone did, I would want to buy it. Hmmmm. Maybe I should go into business making body kits to make pussified modern trucks look good and retro!
Maybe I could just buy an FLD, dress it up and still save a little bit of money. -
I've been kicking around in my mind about how to hide the ugliness of the Columbia grille. There isn't much to be done unless you want to get into custom moulding something.
About all I can think of that is affordable would be to paint the grille to match the body color and then have a custom bug screen made that goes all the way down to the bottom of the hood. Hiding the short grille entirely.
I'm thinking solid mate black, no chrome bezels or grille with projector headlights and a bug screen as I described. If I ever have a few grand left over for a paint job.
You can't dress up a Columbia with traditional drop visors and chrome and stuff like that. It just wouldn't suit the style of truck it is. -
I just saw a couple of pictures of a Columbia daycab that had a lot of chrome and lights. It looked pretty good. The hood and grille were not modified, but it had a ton of chrome and lights. It looked better than I expected.
I guess what I want to find will require custom moulding. I was hoping for a hood that would fit on the Columbia and match the rest fo the body's size and shape, while being less sloped and having a tall, traditional Freightliner grille and square headlights. Just by re-doing the front-end, you could possibly redeem the whole truck. I know I'm not the only person who dislikes modern truck styling.

That's one ugly Columbia. Typical of the Québécois styling treatment- lots of stuck on chrome. Not my cup of tea but to each their own I guess.
These guys do custom hoods. If you're really serious, they could build you whatever you can dream up.

Edit: the Century and Columbia are essentially the same truck. I doubt very much if you'd have trouble bolting a Century hood on a Columbia, of course the rest of the body panels would have to be switched as well.
The Century ST looked pretty good.crb Thanks this. -
Looks like that place should stick to ricers IMHO.
That Columbia is horrendous looking. 2 bumpers? Yuk
MartinThe Challenger and crb Thank this. -
Yeah, I think the two bumpers is a bit much, myself. Obviously, that's someone's atempt at making a show truck with a recent model. Otherwise, I'd take that chromed-out Columbia over a "plain-Jane" Columbia. I thought the spoiler on the hood could possibly be a little excessive, too, but the hood on the Columbia goes down way too low for me.

Does the Century/Columbia have the same cab as the Coronado? They sure looked alike.
I wonder if the hoods will interchange.
