Hi;
I am new here and If someone can help me out, I'd appreciate it greatly.
I own a Freightliner M2 2011 and I'm having seats made for it to replace my Bostroms. I'd like to have a center console built or possibly find one already built if such things exist.
I've searched all possibilities here and came up empty. I've also done days and days worth of google searches and I don't find anything beyond pick-up truck consoles. Problem is none of these fit my M2. I need somewhere in the neighborhood of 18" high and 18" wide between my seats. I'd like it to be high enough so I can lean on it when driving.
The seat company that's making my front seats tells me that if I want to find one or build one, they will pad it and cover it with the same leather that my seats are made out of.
Anyone have any ideas on where I can turn? I seem to be at a dead end.
Thanks for any input you may have.
Mike

If you can't find one thats premade, then find the closest car audio place, most do custom boxes and would probably be able to handle a custom center console then have it covered.
25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
Dang man, get a half sheet of 1/2 or 3/4 inch plywood and make your own. It ain't difficult.
-
I'd make my own and get it covered like they said they could do for you.
Pretty easy like the others have said, sheet of plywood, and a couple hinges to
make an opening to put stuff in and you've got your console. -
Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I'll check out the local Car Audio place first, if they can't come up with something, I break out my carpentry skills....
I was going to build it, but wasn't sure about the cup holders and crap like that. I'm sure there are plastics on the market that I can insert into a properly cut hole for such things.
Thanks again.

Try to get by the Iowa 80 truck stop. I do believe that they have ot=r have a vendor that makes consols or even the Joplin perto might know. I've seen them made of oak but it's been a few years since i've stopped at either of them.Or give the store there a call. But why are you putting it between the seats?
-
and yes, putting it between the seats. -
Maybe look at the J.C. Whitney online catalog,..
They might have what you are looking for,.. -
Back in "the day" we drivers became quite inventive about things like this 'cause we had no bunks and stuff. Quite often our trucks were "slip seat" so you made your box so that it included your "personal stuff" like radios, 8 track players, speaker, etc, etc. You took it out at the end of your run and reinstalled it in whatever truck you got next. I've seen some pretty elaborate ones.
Incidentally, White Freightliner back then used a positive ground system so you had to gin up a wiring system for that; including an "insulated" mount for your CB antennas and such. Amazing how creative you can get when you gotta. -
And the UPS drivers and Road way guys with their "music boxes!"
They sit in the passenger seat with the AM/FM and the CB radio and the speakers.
All they had to do was take their antenna on the vice grip and mount it on the mirror mount or the post! Then they started to make them bigger so they fit between the seat with a cushion on top so they could lay acrss the seats for a nice nap but still have their music and alarm clock and some of them mounted on a collapsible hand truck!
But having one in the middle of the truck that you have to step over or could become a "large flying object" in the truck in case of sudden stoppage or rollover would bother me to no end! If it didn't kill you out right!
And if this isn't your truck, as in, if it's being leased it's NOT your truck till you have the title in hand, so bolting it to the floor by drilling stupid holes in that floor isn't very smart either! What if you fail with the lease, get fired or give up getting screwed in this fleece err lease? You can kiss the escrow good by. And if it's a company truck and you drill holes in their floor you might be walking home with no pay check so they can replace the floor mat, or the carpet and repair those holes.
You might try for one that goes in front of the shifter but that doesn't interfere with it or in front of the passenger seat but I'd keep it out of the aisle as it'll be in your way, it will defentially be in the mechanics way when they need to get into the sleeper or into the overhead console and the passenger side dash! I've been doing this for a long time and I see no need for something between the seats of an OTR truck! But then I don't like a bunch of crapola floating around anyway and I know how to live in one for weeks and months on end!
