I didn't want to start two seperate threads so I figured I would just ask these two winter related questions in the same thread.
1. For Washington State, what does "travel chains advised" or "travel chains recommended" mean?
I have to pass Snoqualmie Pass tomorrow and the Washington 511 app just updated so right now there's no restrictions, but about 10 minutes ago the app had, for Snoqualmie Pass under the "Pass Report" and then "Travel eastbound" as well as "Travel westbound", it said SOMETHING like "travel chains advised" or "travel chains recommended". I should have screen shotted it but it either said advised or recommended, with the key point being that they didn't say "travel chains required".
So if you need to put on chains for Washington State, the app/the signs on the passes in real life will say "chains required". Then you either chain, park somewhere outside of the chain up areas or if you don't chain and are blocking a chain up area, they will fine you. I understand that.
But legally speaking, what are the legal ramifications of "chains advised/recommended"?
I'm thinking that "chains recommended/advised" simply means that the roads are getting worse and the chains are recommended, but the DOT isn't going to stop you/fine you for not chaining. It's basically just a warning sign, I think. Do I have this right or no?
Probably a dumb question but I wanted to ask anyways.
2. Is there anywhere, either online or via the Idaho 511 app, that has the current chain restrictions for Idaho?
I looked on the app and on the desktop version and I couldn't find anywhere where it had the current chain restrictions listed. I know where to look for Washington State 511 app as well as the Oregon 511 site, but I cannot find anywhere on the Idaho 511 app where I can find that information.

Most of the state sites are generally making reference to automobiles. Chances are high that if it says advised, CMV’s will be required.

Idaho 511 click on layers/legend to turn on option for commercial vehicles.

I'd say that your understanding of "chains advised/recommended" is correct. Commercial vehicles are required to carry sufficient chains/traction devices in WA from Nov 1 to April or May 1. However you are not required to use chains unless the state notifies you with a "chains required" statement. WA & OR have 3 levels of chain requirements. 1) commercial vehicles, 2) CMV & private vehicles over 10K pounds, 3) all vehicles. Those are listed in increasingly worse conditions.

I looked closer at Idaho’s 511 and cannot find chain controls in the legend even with winter weather and trucking options on. Come to find out Idaho uses roadside signs according to this from ITD. If you find anything different please advise and stay safe out there.

So I'm guessing Idaho doesn't have a specific section on the app or website that will tell you the chain restriction?
Instead I'm guessing IF there is a chain restriction, that it will show up on the "restrictions" icon on both the app and the website map, right? Can anyone confirm this?
There's a truck icon that you can click on the Idaho 511 website that you can't click on the Idaho 511 app. But I think it's the same thing, it lists the truck restrictions. For now the only ones on there are stuff like width limits and stuff like that.
So again can anyone confirm that if there are chain laws in effect for Idaho, that the Idaho 511 app and the Idaho 511 website will list those chain restrictions on the "restrictions" icon on the app/website? Or will they not list them there? -

If you’re going west and MT doesn’t have chains required then ID isn’t going to make you chain at the top of the hill to go down.

Don’t think that we have any mandatory requirements like other states
