I have a Cummins x15 with the paccar fuel filter the last 3 service changes it's been a hassle to start her up is anyone having trouble starting yours? I prime mine 5 times with ignition shell start but then die out and the mechanic has to prime it in order to start her. Is there anything specific I shall do to not have this problem?

Probably get a better response in the mechanics section.
Maybe @spsauerland or @Goodysnap will see thisGoodysnap and nunofreddy Thank this. -
When all of this happened a mechanic only primed it once with the ignition the truck grabbed air in the system and he couldn't start her up and ever since then it's been doing this to start her up he kept the starter going hard to try to get her to turn on could it be a starter problem? She starts fine after the engine system is working right
062 Thanks this. -

It's an issue that is known to Cummins, you have to upgrade the filter or use Cummins' fix.
Cummins X15 performance fuel problems, filters plug up very fasttnunofreddy and 062 Thank this. -
Upgrade to what filter? How much does it cost? -
Does it have the tall paccar bottom bowl? Between this filter and the engine filter it can take multiple key cycles to completely purge both filters of air and fill them with fuel. Cranking the engine with air still left in the low side will force air up into the commonrail and the injectors which can only add to the extended cranking.
Try this.........After installing filters. No need to pre-fill. in fact it is recommended that you don't for fear of inducing dirt to the system and damaging the pump or the injectors. Turn the key on. the pump will run for 2 min. Key on and off at least twice. On the third Key on, watch in the fuel tanks at the return pipe for air bubbles to clear. Once the bubbles are completely gone, try to start the engine.
If you still have issues, I would suspect the system is drawing a small about of air somewhere and be checked for air in fuel on the suction side. Possibly a cracked pickup tube or suction leak.spsauerland, magoo68, 062 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yes it's the bowl on the bottom doing the key cycle 5 times you recommend more times? -
I agree 5 times is excessive. I would say typically 2-3 times would be adequate to prime and start the truck after servicing both filters on a previously running truck.
spsauerland and 062 Thank this. -
It only does it when I swap the filters after she starts up normally if I had something cracked wouldn't it do it everytime? So the pump will fill it up in 2 min? Cause the fan or only lasts like 30 seconds every time the key gets to on position
