We are looking at buying an HX with a cummins x15. We are putting a serco log loader on it and it requires the engine at a constant 1000-1200 rpms for like 1 1/2 hours, so im wondering if thats good for a forced parked regen. I can also let it do a forced one on Saturdays when i am at home.
We also weigh almost 70000 kgs while loaded if that helps.

Which ISX are you speaking of, CM-870, CM-871, CM-2250 or CM-2350? They all have their down sides, and none are set up to idle with the emissions, other than the older 870.

Yes, you can do a forced regen. Why are you having to do one?
If you have to do a forced regen for that long, you have issues. Do you have an Inline 8 reader and Insite? You need to see if any codes are showing. Sounds almost like the DPF is plugged. These X15 motors have a new style emission system on them compared to what most of us are used to. I would suggest going over to Rawze.com and asking over there. What you are experiencing does not sound right. -

Being that you're running a loader (going to assume it'll be running off a PTO like almost all do), you're going to have that engine loaded up to some degree anyways to power the hydraulics. That's going to help keep heat in the engine vs just running at 1000 RPM under no load. One thing to consider and maybe even quiz Cummins on is if the truck will even do a parked regen if under load. Also you're going to have engine RPM fluctuations quite often when you're running the loader. The regen algorithm in the ECM might not like that and cancel the regen because it won't keep a constant RPM.
stuckinthemud, magoo68 and Justrucking2 Thank this.
