Hello, wanting to do an overhead. Can't seem to find any info on over head. Have searched all over for a few days for service manuals, but can't find much. Before I start buging the local Cummins guys at work, I wanted to see what you guys have to say. This is my first Cummins of this breed. Currently I have 250k on this engine. I know they say overheads can be done at 500k, but I call ########. I'm really anal about my maintenance. I like to get everything done early and do it myself so I know it's done right. I know I should have probably done it earlier, but here I am. Anyways, I haven't had a chance to look at my engine, but I'm assuming it's similar to the older ISX. From what I understand on the older ones, the sequence is lining up A B and C on the balancer to your line on the front to adjust. Odds on one rotation ABC and evens on the next rotation of ABC in the firing order.
A 1&6
B 5&2
C 6&4
So say if you're on the A position, and want to adjust cylinder 1, you check to make sure both rockers are loose. If not, do a full 360° back to the A position and you should be good to go.
So I understand that part, now I need to know how to adjust the injector. From what I gathered on that one, is you break the lock nut, back it off a couple of turns then tighten it to 71in lbs. Then mark it, back it off and bring it back to 71 a few times to make sure it comes back to the same spot. Not really sure on this one.
The last part would be the intake, exhaust and engine brake. I just don't know what the clearance is for those. But I do know they are just like all other rockers. And of course mark everything after it's done
Now this is from what I understand on the older ISX. I'm not sure if this is the same way you do it on the new CM 2450. That is what I need somebody to clear up for me. If someone could give me a complete rundown and the numbers that I need it would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully this new thread helps others as well. Looking forward to doing a little learning.

Only need to adjust valve and engine brake lash.
No injector adjustments with common rail electronic injection. -
Hello, If you got the truck with an X15 Cummins new the initial overhead is at 50k then every 200k thereafter. It's good to stay on top of your maintenance with this engine so you can catch things before they get to far gone and end up with a very expensive repair...$1k or less for the overhead adjustment is cheaper than a rebuild!!
Aron nero Thanks this.
